Chapter 38

*Dan's POV*

(A few days later) Phil was healing up well, I spent all day at the hospital, most nights I would stay there but some nights my mum would say that I look awful and need to rest and then drag me home, well my old home. Peter came back two days after Nina told him what happened, he looked awful when he got here he had dark circles around his eyes I could tell he didn't sleep at all and he just looked upset all the time. When he would be with Phil he'd just stare at Phil's scar with such a sad look "Peter please don't stare" Phil whispered pulling his blanket up, Nina elbowed him "Huh? Oh sorry Phil, I-I wasn't" he said quickly "Peter that's not nice" Nina whispered "I wasn't looking" he said raising his voice slightly. "I'm sorry but you need to keep your voice down sir" the nurse said entering the room "we can't have Phil getting upset or stressed, I will have to ask you to leave if you can't" she said sternly. "I-I'll leave.." Peter said quietly, Nina grabbed his hand "I'll go with him, I'll see you two later" she smiled at us before leaving with Peter. "Babe its really warm in here today the heat is up, take the blanket off" I said softly pulling it down but he grabbed onto it "N-no I don't want anymore people staring" he said, he was close to crying, I kissed his cheek "Its just me here  now you don't have to worry" I assured him and he nodded. I sat at the corner of his bed and held his hand "Mum said they'll discharge you in a couple of days" I smiled "Really?" His face lit up and I nodded "And Nina wants to us to go to the restaurant where you proposed to me to celebrate this miracle" I whispered stroking his cheek and he gave me a small smile "I can't wait to get out of here and go back home with you" he whispered, I pecked his lip "Me too babe."

My dad walked in a few moments later to check up on Phil and he instantly pulled his blanket up "Phil.." I sighed. "You should keep that down it's warm in here" my dad said "I'm fine its okay" Phil said softly looking down at his blanket, I pulled his blanket down "Phil, please" I sighed and he eventually gave in when he noticed that my dad wasn't staring. "What's up dad?" I asked him "I just needed to check up on you, I have to leave town for a couple of days, work related but your mother will be here" he explained "Oh I see.. Um dad, before you go, thank you" I said to him "For what Dan?" he asked confused "For dealing with me the last few days, for getting her when I asked for you, for helping me get through this" I whispered, he hugged me "What kind of father would I be if I didn't do that?" he laughed slightly "I wouldn't blame you, I was an awful son, I always pushed you and mum away" I sighed "That's not true Daniel. Listen I have to go now, I'll see you soon, take good care of Phil" we said our good byes and he left.

Three days later Phil finally got discharged from the hospital, the first two days he just spent in bed, he slept a lot because he didn't get good sleep in the hospital, his wound was pretty much healed too now, but he always tried covering it, I wish he wouldn't. "We have the dinner with Nina and Peter today" I reminded him "I-I don't think I should go" he stuttered "Don't be silly it'll be fun, now get ready" I said not giving him a choice he needs to have some fun. I changed my clothes and went to our room, Phil changed into a button up shirt "Again with the buttons" I laughed silently undoing the first three buttons "N-no no Dan. I don't want people seeing" he said said trying to cover up "Phil, you look wonderful" I said to him and he looked at me with teary eyes and shook his head, I then leaned in and kissed his scar softly "D-dan d-dont" he said quietly sobbing "You look perfect, trust me okay" I whispered kissing his scar again. We took the cab to the restaurant, Phil took a deep breathe before getting out the cab,he grabbed my hand. "Ready?" I asked and he nodded nervously "Um excuse me" a little voice said, it was a girl she looked almost 6 years old "Are you feeling better?" She asked Phil "What do you mean?" he asked her kindly "See, I have the same mark as you, I'm feeling a lot better so I was wondering if you were too" she said pointing at the exposed part of the scar, quiet honestly that made my heart melt it was so cute, it even put a small smile on Phil's face "Yes I feel much better" he said and her face lit up "I'm so sorry, she just got excited to see someone like her recovering" a lady said running up to us who obviously must be her mother "Its no problem" Phil said quietly and I bent down so I was face to face with the little girl "I think you made him feel a lot better, thank you" I smiled at her and she giggled "Bye now" the lady smiled at us before leaving. I kissed Phil's cheek and we headed to the restaurant, Peter and Nina were already there, she got up and hugged both of us before we took our seats. Phil looked really uncomfortable the entire time, and so did Peter, I wonder what was wrong with him he was never like this. I caught him staring at Phil's scar again, and so did Phil, Nina elbowed him making him snap out of it "E-excuse me" Phil said and got up, I followed after him "This wasn't a good idea Dan, I want to go home" he said "We just got here Phil" I sighed "I don't care, I-I feel like  a freak" he whispered, why didn't he get that he looked fine, he was letting a scar ruin the entire night. "Oh my God, Phil how are you?" I heard a bitter voice, it was Zoe. Great. "I'm fine" Phil said blankly "That's great to hear, I was so worried" she said in a fake sweet voice. She then reached towards Phil's shirt and tried covering his scar "But let's hide that okay? We don't want to gross anyone out now do we, UT is a restaurant and I'm on a date so its distracting" I pushed her hand away "Don't fucking touch him" I said harshly. "C-can we please go home"  his voice was shaky "But..okay" I sighed. I went back to the table and explained the situation to Peter and Nina "That bitch, I am going to kill her" Nina said getting up "No no don't make a scene, we'll hang out some other time, we'll see you around" I sighed.
