It seemed that today was an exciting day for the Shinsengumi. A very important person was coming to visit the squad-and he came bearing gifts. Currently, you were minding your own business this morning tending to the flowers in the courtyard; that was until you overheard two officers chatting to Yamazaki about his new sword.

"Ah!" they exclaimed. "Could that sword be... an Osafune Mark II?!"

"That's great! It's got the brand name on it. So cool!"

"What's all the fuss about?"

"[last name]-san! Yamazaki-san has a new sword!"

"Well, it's not like I came here to show it off. I just happened to pass by. By chance..." Yamazaki shyly said.

"Is the sword that good?"

"Yes, it is! Just a little... Please let me try a practice swing!"

"Of course you can," you crowded around the sword and examined it as the boy holding the sheathed blade swung it around.

"Wow! I can really feel that brand-name difference."

"Additionally, it's waterproof. I don't want to brag, you know..."

"I'm feeling self-conscious about my own sword..."

"Hey, what are you guys making such a fuss about?" the first-division captain, Sougo asked. The boy strolled towards you four with headphones in and bubble gum in his mouth.

"Oh, Captain Okita. Look at Yamazaki-san's sword... Huh?" The boys looked at the new blade by Sougo's waist. "That sword is... Kikuichimonji RX-78!"

"What are with these names?!"

"It has a built-in digital music player with a maximum playing time of 124 hours! It costs twice as much as the Osafune! The swords at the captain's level are really something!"

"Hm... Is this sword that great?" you nodded along with Sougo's question. "I just picked it up without thinking, so I didn't realise that. Huh? What's that stick? Yamazaki... What is that? Did you buy that?" Yamazaki looked at his captain with a deadpanned face. "It looks almost rusted."

"Captain, please let me try a few practice swings for a bit! Wow! This first-class stuff is really amazing!"

You pursed your lips and held the handle of your sword, "Maybe I should get a new one... That was a joke."

The sliding door beside where you all were standing opened-Kondo was there, "Hey, what's going on? Why is it so noisy this morning?"

"Chief! We're sorry. Well..." the officer then threw Sougo's sword across the stratosphere and gloated over Kondo's. "That's the Kotetsu Z-Second. Not only does it have digital music equipment, but it also has a special metal attachment in the end that can be used as a floor cleaner!"

"Who needs an attachment like that?!"

"It costs three times as much as the Kikuichimonji! Cool!"

"You guys are using such cheap swords? A sword is a samurai's soul," Kondo stepped out of the room. "If you use such shabby swords, it'll reveal the true nature of your soul."

You rolled your eyes before putting on a fake smiled, "You're amazing, Kondo-san! Mind if I try your sword out? Mine is so rusty it can't even compare."

"Go ahead," you stepped over to the nearby large rock and broke the cleaning attachment off the sword. "AH!! Kotetsu!"

"Nice one, [name]-nee-san."

"Of course."

"You two?! You planned this, didn't you?"

"What ever do you mean?"
