Sougo had mentioned his beloved sister a couple of times. In fact, he was always in a better mood when he talked about her. It was honestly really sweet; and so, you thought it would be great if you invited her to the city of Edo for a couple of days for his upcoming birthday.

And so, here you were, waiting by the Shinsengumi building for her to show up. You knew she had some health problems, so you were a bit worried when she was running late. However, it seemed that your worries were for nothing-the woman had finally arrived. "...Mitsuba-san?"

"Oh!" she exclaimed, approaching your figure. "You're [name]-san, right? It's finally nice to see you in person this time."

"Same! I've hears so many great things about you and I can't believe you're right in front of me. It's really an honour!" She laughed at your words and shook her head in embarrassment. "Wow, now that I get a good look of you, you look so similar to Sougo... or should that be the other way round? I mean, I get that you're siblings, but I didn't expect-"

"Thank you, [name]-san. I get that comment a lot. When I heard that you guys were celebrating Sou-chan's birthday, I couldn't say no! Luckily my doctors gave me the go ahead to take a couple days out of the hospital."

"If you say so. However, let me know if you don't feel well at any time of the day. I'll help you out." Mitsuba nodded and you led her into the headquarters. After you got her settled into a private room, you began to chat about the little things. You two got along quite well-she was an extremely kind woman.

She then got into the story about the Shinsengumi in the country, "That must've been hard for you. After they left for the city, you... were left behind by the people you spent all your days with."

"Well... there was a reason why I didn't go with them..."

You looked at her with a confused face and then you understood why she stopped talking. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I don't want to impose."

"Thanks for understanding," There was a moment of silence before you heard footsteps coming closer and closer.

"Aneue!" Sougo opened the door to the room and saw his sister and yourself casually talking. He instantly smiled and kneeled in front of his sibling. "You're here! It must've taken a while to get here I hope you're well."

"Sou-chan! Thank you, I'm doing fine. You're looking well as well!" you could've sworn that you saw sparkles and a bright aura surrounding the two. Who knew a sadist like him could have such a sweet angel like Mitsuba as a sister.

"I didn't know you knew [name]-nee-san, Aneue."

"We officially met today. We've been talking over the phone for the past week arranging my stay here in Edo. She's been so nice to me. It's so enjoyable being around her."

"Yeah, [name]-nee-san is nice to me as well. She's like the bright light at the end of a tunnel."

A thought arised in your mind, "Sougo really changes when his sister is around... He would never say that..." you then bashfully looked down at your lap. "Compliments like that will get you nowhere, Sougo!" you chuckled at his words. He didn't even seem mad that you said that. He was just in his own world.

"Who are you staying with Aneue?"

"[name]-san told me that she could accommodate me. She said it was no problem at all, she has a large apartment."

Sougo cutely puffed out his cheeks, "But..."

"It's okay, I'll be able to spend time with you during the days I'm here. That's the reason why I came, to see you Sougo," Mitsuba picked up the long, rectangular box next to her bag. "Happy birthday, little brother."

"This is for me? Can I open it?" she nodded. He undid the ribbon and carefully unwrapped the wrapping paper. He lifted up the lid and there he saw, beautiful looking sword, still in its sheathe. "Aneue... Where did you get this?"

"I bought it for you. I thought it would be perfect, you are the greatest swordsman in the Shinsengumi."

"Thank you."

。。。

After Sougo's birthday celebrations he took you outside to talk. "[name]-nee-san, thanks for bringing my sister here. It means a lot."

This was a first, it was weird, yet refreshing to have Sougo say something like that. "It's no problem. You always talk about her; it seemed like you missed her. I thought it would be the perfect chance for her to come on your birthday. Speaking about that... here."

"Is this my gift?"

"Yeah."

He opened the box which revealed to be a knife. It was a small blade coloured black on the handle with white cross on it. "A knife?"

"I bought two and I have the other matching one," you revealed yours-the handle was white with a black cross on it. "Besides, if you can't use your sword because someone took it or something of the sort, you can have the knife as back up."

"I guess so?"

"Why do you sound so ungrateful?"

"Sorry, sorry," he ruffled your hair. You grumbled and looked up at his face. He actually had a smile; a real, genuine smile. Usually he would always have a resting bitch face on and not have a care in the world. It was nice seeing him like this. "Thanks, [name]. I appreciate it."

Mitsuba turned her head a looked over to your direction, "They seem close."

"I guess you can say that," Kondo put a hand to his chin, "But if you call being jealous and teasing [name]-san close..." he thought of the moment at the Amusement Park, and when you were sick.

"So you could say he has a little crush on her?"

"I would too if I wasn't so devoted to Otae-san. [name]-san is a pretty lady," he paused a minute. "Of course, Mitsuba-dono you are very pretty as well!"

"Thanks, Kondo-san," the woman witnessed how much fun the two of you were having. It seemed that Sougo was enjoying himself here in Edo. She'd do anything for the joy of her little brother. Mitsuba smiled to herself, "So I guess he's into older women?"
