Luckily for you, you were able to finish your hospital shift on time just as the day was about to end. However, it wasn't all that easy. A certain co-worker of yours had relentlessly made comments about you-negative ones you should add-as you walked out of the building. In response to her snarky attitude, you flipped her off causing her face to shrivel up like a wrinkled prune.

Enough about her. Right now, you were in the Kabuki shopping district doing some last minute grocery shopping got the night. As you walked past the many food stalls and shops, that feeling of being watched became increasingly prominent. Your sixth sense was tingling. The presence of an unknown being was becoming larger by the minute. However, despite that, you trusted your skills and knew that you would be able to deal with the problem. You just hoped it wasn't anyone troublesome.

A sudden tap on your shoulder made you snap out of your paranoia. You raised a hand up behind you, ready to smack the person who had touched you. "Oh my, I'm sorry if I startled you, [name]-chan!"

"...Otae-chan," you dropped your arm and laughed to yourself, "No, don't be sorry. I was being... You know what? Don't even worry about it." Your friend had tilted her head in confusion at your actions.

"If you say so. Anyway, I happened to see you when I purchased these eggs over there. I wanted to say hi."

"How kind! Are you... gonna make something for dinner with those eggs?"

"Yes! I was thinking of making scrambled eggs with rice. Shin-chan always seems to enjoy my cooking, so I've been in the kitchen lately." You couldn't help but grimace at that fact. All you could wish for was for Shinpachi to have a stomach made of steel.

"...I see. Well, Shinpachi should be so happy to have a sister who is both beautiful and can cook."

"Oh you!" Otae's presence had distracted you from the lingering thoughts of a potential stalker. It's not to say that the unknown person disappeared, but more so, you weren't concentrating on your surroundings. They were still there; just watching.

The plastic shopping bags were pulling at your skin. You had accidentally gone overboard with your purchases, resulting in you carrying at least seven bags in total. "I'm an idiot. Why did I buy so much? But everything was on sale, I couldn't miss out on that! But my poor hands..."

"Seems like you're struggling quite a bit." The smell of nicotine had come into your bubble. "Want some assistance?"

"Huh?" You turned around to see the familiar black-haired man stomping on a cigarette. "Oh, Hijikata-san. What a surprise," you gave him a fake smile.

He noticed your pettiness but didn't say anything of it. Seems like he's had enough bantering this week. "Someone like you shouldn't be walking around at night. Who knows when you'll 'be sold on the black market.'" Ah, those words bring back some horrible memories.

"You're too funny, Hijikata-san!" you sarcastically laughed, causing him to bring out another cigarette to smoke on. "Just letting you know, I'm perfectly capable of defending myself at night! However, I would like to take your offer of help. Carry my bags."

Although you purposefully get on his nerves when you can, there wasn't actually any tension between the two of you. Which was a good thing, you guessed. As you walked in silence along the road, your mind had strayed from the white abyss to the Shinsengumi member. Hijikata had noticed your sudden interest in him. It made him shudder a bit.

"What?" he raised a brow, "Something on my face?"

Instead of making a snarky remark, you had a genuine inquiry. "I was just wondering, do you have a doctor, or perhaps a nurse at the Shinsengumi?"
