Your mind was as clear as filtered water-you had to concentrate on the next move that would surely lead you to victory. Your arms were crossed as you watched Hasegawa spin the wheel.
"Five!" the man had moved his green piece five steps forward. "Boo ya!" he then shouted, abruptly standing up in his chair, bragging about what he just landed on. "I become a popular actor and my income goes up twenty million! I get twenty million every time I circle the board now! I've won! I've undeniably won!" A scowl had appeared on your face; you weren't even going to hide the disappointment and frustration you felt.
"Oi, Hasegawa-san! You haven't won just yet!"
Katsura had joined in with you, slamming his palm on the table. "It's not over until the end!"
"You losers will never be able to catch up! Because I'm an actor! A winner!" he smirked.
Gintoki's eyebrow twitched. "On the game board, sure. Even if you're rich in the game, don't forget that it doesn't change the fact that you're unemployed in real life, dumbass."
"You didn't have to mention that! Can't you let me dream when we're playing a game?!"
"Shove it, DORK. A person who hasn't worked a second in his entire life shouldn't get cocky," you muttered.
"What's that?! [last name]-san, you really have a vendetta against me! What did I do to you?!" Hasegawa then directed his attention to the other two men. "At least I'm not a loser in both the game and real life, like you guys!"
"That's going to far! Get down on your knees! I'll cut you down!" Katsura was about to reach for Hasegawa, but someone had already beat him to it.
Shinpachi had appeared from out of nowhere and ravaged the game board on the fancy table; making sure to ruin everything that you four had achieved. "What are you doing, Shinpachi-kun?" Hasegawa clenched his fists, "I just became a popular actor!"
Shinpachi then grinded his knuckles into Hasegawa's head. "Don't give me that. I was wondering why you guys were so serious... Why are you playing the Game of Life in this place?!"
Of course, you understood where he was coming from. Currently, you all were sitting on one of the many tables in the large hall of the Yagyu household. Today was Kyūbei's birthday, and you had been invited as friends. There were many other guests, including famous people - such as Oguri Shun, seated at the other tables.
"What are you talking about, Shinpachi? The Game of Life is an essential part of celebrating birthdays," Gintoki stated as a matter of fact. "Normally, everybody immediately engages in the unhealthy habit of playing video games, but during a birthday party, the mother making the food is keeping a sharp watch. So everybody gives up on video games and pretends to be good children by playing board games like Life. So they can eat good food! This is the principle of the birthday party."
Shinpachi threw Hasegawa face-first onto the table with so much force, he bounced back a few times. "I don't give. Damn about the worthless birthday knowledge you've assembled."
"Shinpachi-kun, the food isn't the issue," Katsura was now speaking. "If you offend the mother, there's a possibility that she won't buy Kyūbei-kun a Nintendo game afterwards. And our dreams of gathering at Kyūbei-kun's place after school to play RBI Baseball will be shattered."
"I don't remember having that dream, either!" Shinpachi slammed his fists against the table. "And what's with your obsession with playing Nintendo?! You've gone way back to being little kids! The mom isn't even here*! And the sharp eyes staring at us belong to all the celebrities, not the mom! This isn't like the birthday parties we held as children! Get a clue! And [name]-san, I thought you would know better then to join these stupid guys!"
