Months passed with the same routines. Marley would go pick Sam up, they would go to school, meet up with Riley, have lunch off-campus, go home at the end of the day. But finally, things were going to change. It was January of the next year and Marley's birthday was approaching quickly. Unlike every other person in the world, Marley was not excited for her birthday to arrive. She hadn't heard from her dad in almost 8 months, and she was worried. But regardless she pushed on for the sake of her friends and family.

Time seemed to move slower the closer she got to her birthday, It was Saturday the tenth, the day before her birthday and Marley was going to Sam's house to hang out with her best friend. When she pulls up in her car she notices other cars in the driveway way meaning she has to knock on the door. Since Sam's parents don't like her they didn't approve of giving Marley a key to get into the house, (Sam being Sam gave her one anyway). Dragging herself out of her car Marley walks up to the front door, opening the screen door she knows of the wooden one.

After waiting a couple of minutes the door finally opens, Marley looks up to see the not-so-happy face of Sarah, Sam's sister.

"Sarah!" Of all of the times, Marley has come to the house today was the day she was finally home. (Calliou was very happy to see her...Sorry I had to) "Hi, long time no see. Have you been helping out at the shop?" Without replying Sarah slams the door in Marley's face. "Nice, to see you too Marley! Yeah, I have been, it's been really fun!" Marley says quietly mocking Sarah's voice. Taking a deep breath Marley once again knocks on the door. This time it was Sam's mother that answered the door. "Hi, Mrs. Wilson," I say with a smile on my face.

"Oh lord, it's the Military Brat."

"Now see, why am I a Military Brat? The last I checked you were good friends with my mother and supported her relationship with my father?"

"That is why you are a brat." Mrs.Wilson replies rather calmly, " You talk back, you speak your mind all the time, and you disrespect your elders."

"Ok, fair enough, but you have no room to talk about disrespect. Your daughter just slammed the door in my face, you might want to teach her some respect. Anyway I know Sammy's home cause he doesn't go anywhere so can I come in and see him?" Mrs. Wilson like her daughter shuts the front door in Marley's face without saying a word. " Like Mother like Daughter," Marley says as she turns around and walks off the porch pulling her phone out.

Mar Mar: So I'm pretty sure I made the parent situation worse... but anyway unlock your window I'm coming up.

Sammmy: What did you do? know what I don't want to know windows unlocked.

Marley walked around to the side of the porch and expertly scaled it into the roof above the porch. Carefully walking over to the windows Marley slides one open and crawls into Sam's rooms. The thud of Marley falling of the windowsill echoed through the room, making Sam look up from the book he was reading.

"Well that was fun," Marley said as she stood up and faced her best friend. "What's the plan today Mario Kart?"

The day was now the Eleventh and Marley and Sam were hanging out in Marley's room. So far it was just the two of them, Riley was supposed to be coming over a little bit later. Music blasting like usual Sam and Marley were just goofing off like they usually do when their song started playing. Yes, their song is The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Yeah, that one. In the middle of the floor, they started doing a simple dance they made up when they were kids, (More specifically their freshman year of High school). It was simple and stupid, but lots of fun. When the song ended they both burst out laughing. The sound of a familiar voice brought the two best friends back to the present.

"You got room for one more?"  Marley's head snapped up at the sound of her father's voice and she sprinted towards her door.

"DADDY!!" She shouts almost tackling him into a hug. "I can't believe your home!"

"Well believe it for now, because here I am," (Wow that was cringy) The two separated, and Mr.Garcia (I think we'll call him Andrew)  Acknowledged Sam. "Sammy," He says with a nod of his head, "How's the family?"

"Great like always sir,"

"Oh quit with the sir. You know it makes me feel old." The trio chuckles as a knock is heard on the door.

"That would be Riley," Marley says running across her room to grab her phone.

"I was wondering where he was. Your mom is almost done with the food, by the way, might want to help set the table." The duo agrees, going down the stairs stopping at the door first to let Riley in.

"Hey Rye," Marley says as she opens the front door to let him into the house.

" Hey, little Mar, Happy Birthday,"

"Hey we're the same age no you can't call me little." She scolds as they make their way to the dining room.

"Your still little." Marley scoffs

"Fine" Riley says hi to Sam and the three of them set the table for food. The rest of the night was full of laughs, stories, movies, and music. Everything seemed to be better with her father around. The family felt complete, especially with her two best friends. The moral of the story this was one of the best Birthdays for Marley.
