The Snap........14

A/N: Quick note, the Alternate ending is written and posted in my alternate endings book it takes place during the previous chapter so if you want to read that first you can :)

The team appears on the Quantum platform back at the avengers compound. Everyone looks around to see if all the stones were collected.

"Did we get them all?" Bruce asks looking from group to group.

"You telling me this'll actually work? " Rhodey says in disbelief.

"I think it will," Marley says her face lighting up with a smile.

Marley paces around the lab as Tony makes the gauntlet, eventually Rhodey has to drag her out of the room to give him space. Hours later the gauntlet is finished and it's time to put the stones in. Bruce and Rocket watch with anticipation, as Tony nervously manipulates the robotic arms to place the stones into the gauntlet.

"Boom!" Rocket shouts once the stones were in place. Tony and Bruce both jump before realizing it was just a joke.

"All right. The glove's ready. Question is, who's gonna snap their freaking fingers?" Rocket says as the group stands around the gauntlet which was moved to another room.

"I'll do it." Thor says making his way towards the gauntlet.

"Excuse me?" Scott says looking at the state Thor was currently in. 

"It's okay."

"No, no, no, whoa. Stop. Stop. Wait a sec. Hey, hey–" The group says as they try to stop Thor from putting on the gauntlet. 

"Wait, wait, Thor, just wait. We haven't decided who's gonna put that on yet." Steve says pushing Thor farther away.

"I'm sorry. What, we're just sitting around waiting for the right opportunity?"

"We should at least discuss it." Scott says.

"No, no, sitting here staring at that thing is not gonna bring everybody back. I'm the strongest Avenger, okay? So this responsibility falls upon me. It's my duty."

"It's not about that–" Tony tries

"It's not that– Stop it! Just let me! (he tears up) Just let me do it. Just let me do something good. Something right." Thor interrupts tearing up a little.

"Look– It's not just the fact that that glove is channeling enough energy to light up a continent, I'm telling you, you're in no condition." Tony says trying again to stop Thor from wanting to put the gauntlet on.

"What do you– What do you think is coursing through my veins right now?" Thor says looking at Tony.

"Cheez Whiz?" Marley suggests beating Rhodey by a second.

"Lightning."

"Yeah." Tony says not fully believing it.

"Lightning won't help you, pal. It's gotta be me." Bruce says,Thor backs away from Tony a little bit. "You saw what those stones did to Thanos. It almost killed him. None of you could survive."

"How do we know you will?" Steve asks.

 "We don't. But the radiation's mostly gamma. [He takes a good look at the gauntlet] It's like...I was made for this."

 "Good to go, yeah?" Tony asks as the group prepares for Bruce to put on the gauntlet and snap.

 "Let's do it."

"You remember– everyone Thanos snapped away five years ago and just bringing them back to now, today. Don't change anything from the last five years." Marley says, double checking to make sure nothing bad happens.

"Got it." Bruce says, everyone gets ready and suits up.

"F.R.I.D.A.Y., do me a favor and activate Barn Door Protocol. Will you?" Tony says as he uses his suit to make a shield covering Clint, Rhodey doing the same for Marley.

"Yes, boss." The A.I responds and the Facility goes on lock down.

 "Everybody comes home." Bruce says to himself as he prepares to put on the gauntlet. He moves his hand forward sliding on the gauntlet which nanobotically expands to fit his hand. The power surge from the stones overwhelm him and he grunts in pain falling to his knees. 

 "Take it off! Take it off!" Thor shouts seeing Bruce in pain.

"No, wait. Bruce, are you okay?" Steve interjects sticking his hand our in front of Thor.

 "Talk to me, Banner." Tony says as the group watches Bruce.

 "I'm okay. I'm okay." Bruce gets out and the group lets out a little breath of relief. Thor give Bruce a double thumbs up as he continues to feel the pain. Through the intense pain Bruce manages to snap his fingers. Before anyone can do anything he faints the gauntlet sliding off his hand. Clint kicks it away.

 "Bruce!" Steve says kneeling down next to him.

 "Don't move him." Tony says as he sprays something on his arm.

"Did it work?" Bruce asks as he regains consciousness.

 "Worth a shot. It's over. It's okay." Thor says not believing it worked. Scott and Marley walk towards the windows looking outside. Out side the window they see plants and birds. A phone rings in the room. Clint walks over to his phone quickly seeing that it was his wife calling.

"Guys– I think it worked!" Scott says as Marley makes her way back to the group from the windows. She stands next to Rhodey and watches Bruce before she hears something. Marley looks up to the sky and sees a ship hovering above the compound a single missile heading down from it. It hits the base blowing someone away. More come down from the ship destroying the base and sinking everyone in the rubble.

A/N: this one was a little shorter but not a lot, the next two chapter are (obviously) the battle, so they might take a little longer to write because fight scenes are not a strong suit of mine. I'm going to go get started on those :) ~M
