.....
I woke up to the morning light blinding my vision and I lazily sat on the bed, Ammi must have opened the curtains because I have been snoozing on my alarm. I gathered my hair into a rough bun and literally dragged myself to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and had my warm bath, I wore my throb and walked to the closet.
I stood there watching my clothes, unable to ascertain what would fit me for the day, regardless of all the clothes were my size, I always find it difficult to choose. I groaned inwardly and grabbed an Abaya and slipped into it. I fished for my eyeliner inside my make_up kit and wore it in front of my mirror. I wore my veil and halted to watch the damsel in the mirror and I murmured MashaAllah.
"Pretty!! Pretty!!" Layla yelled.
"Uhhg!!" I groaned "Yes layla I'm coming!" I yelled back. I grabbed my purse and sauntered down the stairs, meeting her glares. "Did you have to shout my name like that?" I glared back.
"And did you have to keep me waiting?" She said and I shrugged. I wore my shoes and pecked Ammi goodbye who was seated beaming, and bade Abba bye, I need not to have breakfast because I know I have wasted more time.
We hurriedly went out to meet with the exhausted but 'patient' Salim (yeah exhausted, because layla was enough to frustrate him), we entered the car and he instantly sped off. I didn't get to use my car because it was with the mechanic and Layla insisted that she and Salim will come pick me up, so Abba will rest with that.
"Salim sorry for keeping you waiting", I apologized.
"No problem, I hope you didn't forget anything?" He asked glancing through the rearview mirror.
"Not really", I checked my purse to make sure I was right, because it was our last semester Exam. We drove in silence, all engaged in our thought, rereading what I read though.
"I can't believe we are finally writing our last paper". Layla squealed breaking the silence "like I'm really done with this session!". She exclaimed.
Salim smiled "Yes with the level not the school", He reminded and she rolled her eyes.
"I know right! that means I'm not a fresher cause I'm going for my third year". She said and he shrugged.
"Are you both free tonight, like I know most people are celebrating for the 'end of semester' so I'm sure you will likely celebrate too". He said.
"Nope! We are not celebrating anything, it is not our final year remember". She said and I smiled.
"So what about if I take both of you out for dinner?". He asked and Layla looked at me with amazement.
"Are you for real? When did you start becoming my 'caring' brother, I thought you were always busy?". She asked.
He looked at her and turned to the road "if you don't want to go its fine with me and besides I have cancelled my meeting, so I will just reschedule it". He said looking disappointed.
She nudged his shoulder "I'm just messing with you, we are very much going, isn't it pretty?" She asked and I nodded.
"Okay, what time should we go?" He asked.
"I don't know, what time pretty?"
"Uhhmm! I think after Isha'i (8pm) its fine". I suggested.
"Okay then, will see you by then", He said and answered his ringing phone. He then dropped us at school and we parted to our departments.

The Exam was easier than I expected and I finished early, I exited the hall meeting with lots of students 'final year students mostly' they wore their matching outfits, laughing and snapping pictures with their friends, celebrating even before the convocations.
I strolled through the crowd to the parking lots where Salim asked us to meet him, but they were both nowhere to be found, I stood there watching the crowd and picturing myself and layla as the graduate. I wasn't surprise with Sadiq's absence because he told me he won't be back from turkey till convocation. I scrolled through my phone to call Raliya because I missed her call when I was in the hall.
"Hello Raliya", I said and she responded. "How have you been, how is your mom?".
"She is fine, she is sending her greetings to you and Ammi".
I smiled "Alright, please greet her for me too".
"Okay Aunty".
"When are you coming back Raliya?". She has been away for a month now and she promised to come back soon. I missed her and Ammi wanted to surprise her by paying for her school to further her education, and I couldn't wait for that.
"Well uhmm!", she paused "I wanted to talk to you about some...".
"Blue eyes?", I heard a voice coming behind me more like a question.
I sighed "Okay Raliya, I have to go, we will talk later okay".
"Okay Aunty, Goodbye". She said and I hanged up.
"Blue eyes". He called again. I know it was only one person that calls me that, hence I don't like the nickname but he was more than stubborn. I plastered my fakest smile and turned to face him.
"Zayn!", I gasped "did you have to sneak up on me?!" I Pretended to be startled.
He surrendered his hands "Sorry about that!" He apologised with a funny face, that's just how he was, making you laugh even when you are infuriated. He was a guy (funny guy) I met weeks ago, he was offering his Master degree in computer science and he did his degree in Egypt. He said he was just waiting to finish his studies to marry the love of his life and I don't know who she was but she was very lucky, because he was not just funny but very nice.
"Anyways, what are you doing here?" I asked.
"Uhmm... Ma'am I'm a graduate remember". He smirked.
"Uhhg! Aren't you offering masters?". I asked I know I was sounding stupid cause I knew he was.
He hold his chin as if he was thinking "Ohh!! Yeah I forgot!", He exclaimed, he mustn't be serious! "just kidding, I'm done with my exams this week, happy for me?" He grinned and I laughed in response.
"So how is your fiancé, when am I going to meet her?" I asked.
He cleared his throat "You mean, my other half! my heart! my peace of mind! the love of my life! the.....". I cuts in.
"Okay! Okay! I'm okay with that", I laughed shaking my head in disbelieve, his fiancé has a lot ahead of her, he was so unpredictable. "When are we celebrating the wedding?". I asked beaming.
He grinned "Soon blue eyes, she is yet to come to Abuja, so I will just have to wait for her and her family". His fiancé was an Egyptian, though her father was a Nigerian but they based there and to the approval of their marriage, they were coming to one of their mansions here for the wedding. "So you will meet with her by then".
"If god wills". I said and Just then Salim's car appeared toward us and Zayn's gaze fell on the car and awkwardly turned to me.
