.....Sirens blistering all over the atmosphere, with darkness creeping every light leaving only the lights of the rambling cars. Trembling hands of Raliya holding mine tightly, and nervousness was evident in all our faces.
"Aunty please tell me she is not the one", Raliya pleaded but I just shook my head in response. We stayed stuck to the ground waiting for the officers outcome.
"Madam", A policeman said coming towards us, and we snappily turned to him, he stood feet away and brought out his I.D card. "Are you Ikhbal Adam?". I nodded. "Please we will like you to come and attest the identity of one of the victims".
"Okay", I said, looking for Kawu Faruq who was then talking with an officer, I patted Raliya's shoulder and whispered "keep praying", and we both walked to the Ambulance.
Flashback:
"Oh my god, Raliya what is it?" Ammi asked holding her to sit. But she kept on crying, I took the phone from the ground and dialed Kawu's number thrice but no answer, with disappointment I tried the last time and luckily he picked.
"kawu faruq, what happened?" I asked.
"I was told by the police, that there is an abundant car at night around Jere, and the passengers were abducted, so there is high possibility that 'Yaya'(Raliya's mother) is one of the passengers", He heaved "but we are praying that she is not one of them",.
"Kawu but are the police doing anything about it?!" I asked. I wondered if they were putting much efforts because with or without Raliya's mother, the one's abducted need instant saviors because those thugs are not just kidnappers but murderers. Many abducted victims were killed because they didn't get to pay their ransom instantly.
"Yes the police are putting their utmost effort in investigating, and by Allah the thugs will be captured and imprisoned", He stated.
"Okay Kawu, thank you and please update us on whatever is going on, I will also report the case to the police too".
"Okay, may god see us through, and please calm Raliya down, just tell her to keep praying", He said.
"Okay Kawu". I hung up the call.
We sat Raliya down and alleged to Ammi's advice, she finally stopped crying. Few hours later, we were still awake waiting for any call or any information, and at the time, sleep doesn't bothered visiting because it knows it won't be welcomed.
"You know, all my life the one person I grew up with and love wholeheartedly is my mother, she's been there for me. She tried all her best to see that I get the education I deserve, and besides I always wanted to become a teacher, I wanted to acquire a knowledge that I will be able to share with people. And she put herself to work so hard to see that my dream come tr.....true!". Raliya stated amidst tears, and I speechlessly held her hands.
Allahu akhbar........ Imam(the person that leads prayers) started calling the Adhaan.
"Ya Allah! I can't believe we stayed woke all night!". I said walking to the toilet. We prayed our nafila and later the Subh (first obligatory prayer) and I texted Layla to let her know that I won't be able to go to school, though I lied that I was having a headache not to ailed her.
After some hours Ammi compelled us to Sleep and after we woke up I went into the kitchen amidst my sleepy eyes to prepare some food (more like lunch than breakfast) 'brunch' because it was already past 12pm. I made some bread sandwich and I was making tea when I heard voices in the living room. I quickly made it, fixed my veil and gently took it to the living room.
