2 YEARS LATER.

•••
Heavy rain pattering against my window, venting wintry breeze into my room. I shifted the duvet from my body and tardily dropped my feet onto the freezing floor. I sluggishly walked to close the curtains when I heard a knock, I hastily closed the curtains and headed to open the door.

"Who is it?".

"Ikhbal". I heard Ammi's voice.

I turned the knob to a locked door, I tried again but in vain.
"Ammi can you try opening, its locked from outside". I said. Upon silenced response. "Ammi?". I asked.

"Ikhbal Ana Asif. I'm sorry". Her voice echoed from a distant.

"Ammi what is wrong? Please open the door". I pleaded my voice cocky.

"Ammi!". Was answered with another knock.

The knock was benignly while I gently opened my eyes to a blinding sun rays. I sighed at the complicated dream, which I kept getting for the past years, and wiped the forming sweat on my forehead. I sat, brought my knee to my chest and thought of what must be the meaning of the dream, when a knock jolted me to reality. The knock was not only a dream after all. I thought. I stood and gently opened the door.

"Aunty, Abba is waiting for us downstairs".

"Okay Raliya let me just take my bath".

"Okay". She smiled and left.

She was now writing her university entrance exams, with great performance from her secondary school as she did graduated with absence of wasteful time and gotten the privilege of entering Base_University which she applied to study Nursing, willfully to yield her dream of helping people and sharing her knowledge medically. That was one of her integer that made me so prideful of her.

I headed to the bathroom, took my bath, wore my dress(Ankara surprisingly), I was now fond of wearing Ankara perhaps with Aunty Asiya's constant persuasion. I fixed my head tie, wore my veil, took my purse and sauntered downstairs.

"Abba you shouldn't have waited for me, I would have just drive to school". I stated.

Abba has bought a brand new black Mercedes for me a year ago, but I wondered why he was always keen of taking me to school and much overprotective now.

"I want to pick you from school that's why". He said. "If that's okay with you". He added.

Well that's not the first time "it's okay". I said instead with my slightest smile.

Abba drove Raliya first for her exam and later drove me to school. Being Raliya's first step of starting university, surprisingly mine was ending because I was in my final year. I waved at Abba and headed to the already crowded class as I subconsciously walked to the seat without even looking at the 'everyday' faces.

"Ikhbal, good morning". I looked up to a grinning Zainab.

Well Zainab benevolently left Halima's clique, hence Halima was now her better self and we were on 'friends' terms, but I guessed we won't be perpetual 'close_friends' again.

"Morning Zainab". I smiled.

"Can I sit with you?". She asked.

"Sure". While she seated.

The class was enormously boring, with just complicated pharmacological basis filling the board. After miscellaneous lectures we were finally heading out of the class. Though school wasn't close to easy because after severity years of excessive reading and mounds of books, we were finally approaching the end of it.
