Somehow last night Toni had managed to get a very sleepy Cheryl upstairs and to bed after their friends had left. She had enjoyed their Saturday night but she was also extremely tired after worrying about the redheads hospital appointment. She wasn't sure what time it was exactly when she woke up but panic rose in her body when she couldn't feel her girlfriend next to her. She jumped out of bed as she looked around the room like a maniac with the redhead no where in sight. It wasn't until she heard a slight noise in the bathroom she moved from the spot she was frozen on. She pushed open the bathroom door to find Cheryl sat on the floor with a sheepish grin look on her face. 'Cheryl what the hell happened?' Toni said in a panic and she knelt down next to her, checking for any obvious injuries. 'TT I'm fine, I needed to use the bathroom and on my way back out I slipped and I wasn't able to get myself up, that's all' Cheryl shrugged. 'That's all?' Toni could feel a little anger building up in her because she was scared. 'Yes. Now please Toni can you help me up?' Cheryl asked not wanting to get into a fight while she was stuck on the bathroom floor. Toni stood up with a huff and wrapped her arms around the redhead using all of her strength to pull her up. She guided Cheryl to the bed pulling back the duvet before she helped her get in. 'Why didn't you just wake me?' Toni asked as she climbed back into bed herself. 'I didn't want to wake you and I managed it myself until I got to the last hurdle' Cheryl smiled cheekily trying to lighten the mood. Toni couldn't stay mad when Cheryl was smiling at her like that. 'You, Cheryl Blossom, drive me crazy' Toni smiled. 'Oh I can do a lot more than that' Cheryl flirted as she lent into Toni's lips.
A few hours later Cheryl was laid with Toni watching some Sunday morning Tv. 'TT do you think later you'd be able to help me with a bath? The doctor gave me a cast protector but I still don't want to risk getting it wet' Cheryl asked with her head against Toni's chest. 'Yeah sure babe, as long as you wait for me to help you and don't attempt it yourself' Toni teased. 'Haha very funny' Cheryl rolled her eyes. 'So Tommy's birthday is next weekend, did you give the teacher his party invites?' Cheryl asked. 'I did, are you sure you're up for it though. There will be a lot of screaming kids' Toni questioned. 'Yeah of course, after everything he deserves a day all about him' Cheryl nodded 'I was actually thinking of inviting my parents, what do you think?'. 'I think if that's what you want to do babe then lets do it' Toni smiled. 'Okay I'll give them a call later to see if they are free' Cheryl nodded making a mental note of it. Toni and Cheryl had already spoken to Sweet Pea, Fangs, Veronica and Archie to make sure they could all attend. They had also ordered a bounce house, a mini petting zoo, a face painter, caterers and someone to make up party bags for all of the guests. Tommy knew he was having a party but he didn't know about what they had set up, it was all a surprise. 'We also need to talk about his gift' Toni said 'getting a motorcycle at his age is a Topaz tradition'. 'Then buy him one TT but you must make sure to buy every safety precaution along with it, the best helmet and all the protective gear he needs. Also I don't think my heart could take watching him on it, it's already stopped once, I don't want it to happen again' Cheryl said placing her hand on her chest. 'Don't be so dramatic Cher, he will be fine' Toni laughed.
While Toni and Tommy was in the garden Cheryl decided to call her parents, it was the first time she'd gone out her way to contact them and it felt a little weird. It didn't take too many rings before they answered.
'Hello'.
'Hello Mother it's Cheryl'.
'Oh it's good to hear from you dear, how are you doing?'.
'Fine, most of my bones have healed and I only have one cast on my lower leg now so I'm doing better. How are you?'.
'Even better now I've heard from you. I didn't want to overstep that's why we haven't been in touch, I don't want to suffocate you while we try to heal our relationship. I'm also glad to hear you are doing better darling'.
'There is a reason for me calling actually'.
'Oh? What is it?'.
'Next Saturday is Tommy's sixth birthday, he's having a party. Toni and I would like to invite you and daddy if you don't already have any plans'.
'That sounds marvellous, your father and I will be there. What does he like so we can get him a gift?'.
'He loves drawing, animals, anything really, he's a really grateful child'.
'Well thank you for thinking of us dear. Thank Toni as well. I must go, I have to present hunt for the birthday boy'.
'Okay Mother. Goodbye'.
'Goodbye Cheryl'.That went better than Cheryl thought, she didn't quite know what she expected but she assumed the novelty of them being nice to her would have worn off by now. Cheryl carefully pulled herself from the couch and sat down in her wheelchair so she could take herself to the back door. Toni stopped playing soccer to raise an eyebrow at the redhead but didn't say anything to her, instead she walked over to her to push her into the patio area. 'Did you speak to you parents?' Toni asked. 'I did, they'll be here' Cheryl nodded. 'Okay great' Toni kissed Cheryl's cheek before running back over to Tommy and scoring a goal against him, quickly running away while he chased her. A smile overtook Cheryl's face as she let out a little giggle. Later on Toni decided she was going to light the firepit and the barbeque for dinner today and Cheryl was looking forward to it although Toni wasn't the best at getting the fire started causing the redhead to bump her out of the way with her wheelchair and light it herself.
They sat around the fire eating and watching the flames dance as darkness began to take over the sky. 'So Tommy?' Cheryl asked getting the boys attention 'how does it feel to nearly be six?'. 'Exciting' he grinned clapping his hands together. Cheryl laughed at his reaction and the ketchup smeared all over his face made it even cuter. 'Babe I thought it was my birthday next week?' Toni teased. 'Oh my mistake' Cheryl played along 'I thought it was Tommy's, I must have gotten it mixed up'. 'Hey!' Tommy said crossing his arms 'Mommy stop lying, it's my birthday next week!' he pouted 'tell her Mama'. 'You're right Sweetheart, it is your birthday' Cheryl smiled. 'Traitors' Toni grinned causing Tommy to stick his tongue out at her. 'Right' Toni said jumping up causing Tommy to run away but he didn't get far before collapsing in a fit of giggles. Toni scooped him up and threw him into the air before tickling him. Cheryl just laughed, her heart full of happiness and love for the pair.
Toni wheeled Cheryl into the house with Tommy sat on her lap, she locked the doors before helping Cheryl in the stair lift. The redhead sat on their bed with a book while Toni gave Tommy a bath and got him ready for bed. The little boy didn't forget the redheads promise though reminding her that she said she'd read him his story tonight and she was more than happy to, she missed it. Cheryl sat in her wheelchair as Toni and Tommy got comfortable in his bed and waited for her to begin. She didn't find reading Tommy stories embarrassing anymore when she had to change her voice to fit the characters, his laughter was like music to her ears and well worth it. It took him a little longer to fall asleep tonight, he held on the the redheads every word but eventually his eye lids got too heavy and he couldn't stay awake any longer. They both carefully kissed him goodnight and left the room without a sound.
'Okay I guess it's time for your bath now?' Toni smiled. 'I guess it is, do you want to join me?' Cheryl smiled, it had been so long since they had relaxed together in the tub, something they did a lot before the accident. 'And how is that going to work? You do know you have a broken leg right?' Toni raised her eyebrow. 'Toni I'm well aware of my broken bones' Cheryl smirked. Cheryl explained that if Toni got in the bath first she could help Cheryl in and the redhead could lean against her allowing her broken leg to be propped up on the side of the tub. Once they were in the bathroom Toni started running the water and adding the bubbles before she stripped from her clothes. She moved to help the redhead next who had already removed her upper clothing but was struggling with her trousers. 'Okay how does this go?' Toni asked looking at the plastic cast cover. 'I guess you just slide it on and then tighten the top so water can't get in' the redhead shrugged. Toni did as Cheryl said and it seemed right, she cut off the running water and stepped into the bath holding her arms out to Cheryl. Somehow Cheryl managed to lift her unbroken leg into the water by balancing on her broken one without hurting herself. Toni lowered herself guiding the redhead down with her, Cheryl groaned in pain a little but once they were sat down Toni pulled her back against her making sure her broken leg was comfortably propped up and out of the water. Once they had relaxed Toni spoke. 'Is this okay? Are you comfortable?'. 'I'm perfect TT' Cheryl smiled as she felt the hot water relax her tense muscles 'I've missed this'. 'Me too babe'.
