Cheryl didn't even attempt to go after Toni she was too stunned by her confession, she put her car into drive and made her way to Veronica's on auto pilot her mind spinning with a million different things. Cheryl buzzed the gate and parked next to the brunettes car, she got out and made her way into Veronica's house. The redhead looked around downstairs but was unable to find her friend so she climbed the stairs to Veronica's bedroom, finding her laid in her bed still in her pyjama's. 'Hey girl' the brunette smiled brightly pulling he duvet open so her best friend could climb in. 'Hey' Cheryl mumbled as she made her way around the bed and crawled in. Veronica instantly picked up on Cheryl's vibe, something was off. 'Everything alright? You look like you've seen a ghost'. The redhead just nodded as she trained her eyes on the tv playing at the other side of the room causing Veronica to raise an eyebrow.
The brunette reached for the remote and turning off the tv before rolling over on her pillow to face her best friend. 'Did something happen with Toni?' Veronica asked carefully as she pulled the redheads arm until she turned to her. They were both laid on the pillows facing each other in silence. 'Cheryl, did something happen with you and Toni? Talk to me' Veronica pushed and the redhead nodded with a tear rolling from her cheek. 'Okay, did you guys have a disagreement?' the brunette pushed wiping the tear from her best friends face. Cheryl just shook her head no. 'Then what's happened girl?' Veronica was more than confused. The redhead looked up at her face connecting their eyes for the first time today before taking a breath 'she was acting a little weird when I woke up, so I asked her what was wrong, she was going to tell me but she backtracked on herself and just got out of bed to get ready for work'. 'Okay did anything else happen?' Veronica tried to keep the conversation moving forward. 'Yes, we took Tommy to school and then I drove Toni to work in complete silence, when we pulled up to Pop's I told her to tell me what was wrong and after a small debate she did'. 'Okay and can you tell me what she said?'. 'She said she was falling in love with me' the redhead whispered as if it was to herself.
'And what did you say?' Veronica tried not to smile, she could see her friend was freaking out and she had never had a real relationship with real love so she just wanted to be there for her and help her navigate what was happening. 'Nothing, she got out the car and practically ran into work' Cheryl sighed. 'Do you know how you feel?' Veronica felt like she was asking a million questions but she wanted to get to the bottom of what was happening. 'I feel the same way and it terrifies me' Cheryl confessed. Veronica wrapped her arms around the redhead pulling her in. 'Look I know this can all be a little scary and it's hard to give someone that part of you, love has the power to hurt or even destroy a person but it's up to you to decide if Toni is worth that'. 'Of course she's worth it' Cheryl nodded. 'Well then, it seems to me like Toni is feeling just as scared and unsure as you, you're both going to have to work together to find out how you both feel'. Cheryl nodded 'you're right, thanks V'. 'Of course, that's what best friends are for right?'.
'So how was your night when you went home' Veronica smirked trying to change the heavy subject. Cheryl's lips formed into a small smile 'amazing'. 'Really?' Veronica smirked as she raised an eyebrow. Cheryl nodded 'but I've got to wear turtle neck sweaters for at least the next week'. 'What?' Veronica laughed. Cheryl sat up pulling her sweater over her head revealing the dark marks over her chest and neck. 'Oh my god!' Veronica laughed as the redhead pulled her sweater back on. 'I know right!' Cheryl let out a small chuckle 'you can imagine my face the next morning and Toni thought it was hilarious, I could see her trying to hide her laugh'. 'She's so cute' Veronica smiled 'hey, not that I mean to pry but did she tell you what happened with Madison?'. 'No she didn't, I know that Madison slapped her, Toni just said she gave her a taste of her own medicine but I don't know what actually happened' Cheryl shrugged. 'It's lucky we walked in when we did, I think we just interrupted pre fight' Veronica said with wide eyes. 'I just hope that she leaves us both alone now' Cheryl sighed. 'I don't think she'll cross Toni again' Veronica laughed 'it looked like her eye was bruising already'. 'Really? I didn't even look at her to be honest, I was too concerned with Toni'. 'Yeah, I think Toni landed a punch right in her face'. 'Oh my god' Cheryl let out a small gasp. 'Your girls scrappy, she's got your back' Veronica smiled.
They spent the whole day together just chatting and lounging around but the redhead couldn't move her mind from Toni. It was 6pm and she hadn't had any kind of message from her girlfriend but to be fair she hadn't reached out either. 'I should probably go' Cheryl sighed 'I need to work this whole thing out with Toni like she did that time I freaked out'. Veronica nodded 'go get your girl Blossom but I need to know how it goes so as soon as you can text me and let me know. You guys are my favourite couple so I think it's fair for me to know' she chuckled. 'Good luck Cheryl' Veronicas tone turned more serious as she pulled Cheryl in for one more hug. The redhead got into her car with a wave from the brunette. Once she pulled off from Veronicas drive she drove around the corner stopping at the side of the road so she could try and figure out the best way to approach this. She pulled out her phone holding it in her hand as she took shaky breaths. She could call her and ask her to meet her in a few days or maybe she should wait a few days and give Toni a little time. This was so out of what she was used to, she didn't know what to do apart from have an internal argument with herself.
Toni had been stressed the whole day, kicking herself for her confession that slipped out in the heat of the moment. She couldn't bring herself to contact the redhead she had probably freaked her out enough already. She checked her phone when she had gotten home and there was no message from her girlfriend, she had fucked up, it was far too early for love and Cheryl was probably running for the hills by now. Sweet Pea had dinner ready for when she had gotten home which Toni was grateful for but she wasn't feeling hungry, she just pushed it around on her plate before standing and putting it on the counter. Sweet Pea and Fangs shared a confused look when Toni entered the bathroom before shutting the door. 'What's with her?' Fangs said looking at his brother as they heard the shower running. 'No idea' he shrugged turning his attention back to his food. Toni didn't even bother sitting with her family she went straight into her bedroom closing the door behind her in a huff. She was in an awful mood and she was also extremely embarrassed, she threw herself on her bed as she scrolled through her phone not knowing what else to do.
The boys were interrupted from their meals by a knock on the door. 'I'll get it' Fangs said putting his plate on the floor. 'Cheryl?' Fangs said in surprise as he opened the door. Tommy heard his uncle mention the redheads name so he got up and ran to her. 'Is your sister home?' Cheryl questioned just as the little boy wrapped his arms around her legs. 'Hey Tommy' she said bending down to hug him. 'She's in her room, did something happen between you guys? She's been in a bad mood since she came home' Fangs said unsure on the situation. 'Do you mind if I go through?' Cheryl asked avoiding everything Fangs had just said. 'Uh sure' he moved out of the doorway to let her through 'come on buddy let's finished dinner'. Cheryl nodded her thanks as she tried to mask her nerves. She knocked on the door hearing Toni shout a mumbled 'what?'. The redhead took a breath and pushed open the door.
Toni didn't look up assuming it was one of her brothers, it wasn't until she heard the door close again that she lifted her eyes. 'Cheryl?' She said sitting herself up 'what are you doing here'. 'We need to talk' Cheryl sat sitting on the edge of her girlfriends bed. 'Oh no' Toni whispered as she braved herself for what was to come. 'Did you mean what you said this morning?' Cheryl said trying her hardest to to find Toni's eyes but her gaze was being avoided. 'I'm sorry Cheryl it just slipped out' Toni said looking at her hands as she nervously picked at her nails. 'But is that how you feel?' Cheryl asked 'are you... falling in love with me?'. Toni took a deep breath, there was no point in denying it it would make her look even more pathetic than she already did, she was sure Cheryl was going to end things between them but she had to be honest. 'I am' was all Toni was able to say. She felt like a fool, there was no way she should feel like this after such a small amount of time. 'Toni'. 'Here we go' Toni thought to herself. 'Toni' Cheryl repeated 'will you look at me?' Toni lifted her eyes up to the redheads face but still avoided eye contact. 'I feel the same way about you, I'm... I'm falling in love with you too'.
