Forty Nine

'Oh shit' Archie whispered as he wheeled Veronica and Tommy back into the room. Toni and Cheryl quickly pulled away but Toni didn't miss the smile on her little boys face. 'What's going on in here?' Veronica smirked relieved that the couple had worked it out enough that they were locking lips. 'Do you ever mind your business?' Cheryl laughed. 'Nope, never' Veronica gave her a wink as Tommy carefully slid from her lap and reached his arms up to Cheryl. 'She can't pick you up buddy, why don't you take a seat next to Ronnie?' Toni said sitting back at the bottom of the bed. 'It's fine, Archie you seem to be the only adult without a broken bone would you lift him up please?' Cheryl said looking over Toni's hand. 'Sure thing' Archie smiled picking him up and placing him next to Cheryl before taking a seat himself. Tommy snuggled into Cheryl side and Toni loved how adorable they looked together, she smiled at Cheryl before turning her attention to their friends.

Surprisingly Tommy had fell asleep against Cheryl's side snoring lightly, his little face looking more relaxed than it had in weeks. 'Looks like someone's really missed you' Veronica smiled at the redhead. 'I've missed him too' Cheryl smiled looking down at the sleeping child. 'So are you guys good now?' Veronica asked. Toni looked at Cheryl to see if she was going to answer her best friends question. 'We are' the redhead smiled. 'Finally, watching the both of you not together was pretty traumatising, especially the day at the park' Veronica let out a breath 'I'm so glad you guys worked it out, you belong together'. 'Well we're glad you're happy' Toni laughed. 'Hey I'm your biggest supporter' Veronica smiled. 'I don't know V' Toni joked 'Penelope is rather supportive now'. 'Hey I was there from the start, I witnessed the love between you both blooming, I'm your biggest supporter'. 'Okay V, whatever you say' Toni laughed. Their conversation was interrupted by Cheryl's nurse entering the room.

'Ms Blossom I need to discuss some things with you' the nurse said looking at the other people on the room. 'Whatever it is you can tell me in front of my partner and friends' Cheryl said looking at the nurse. 'Okay' the nurse nodded 'I think you are ready to be discharged, we will issue you a wheelchair for now and once the bones in your arm and leg have healed we can begin physical therapy. Do you have someone at home to help you or shall we arrange a caregiver'. Toni turned to look at Cheryl, the redhead stuttering at the question. 'I'll be with Cheryl' Toni interrupted. 'Is that correct Ms Blossom?' the nurse raised an eyebrow at the redhead. 'It is' Cheryl nodded. 'Okay great, you'll be going home tomorrow, do you need any transportation?' the nurse asked. 'No I've got that' Archie nodded. 'Well okay then, I'll be back later Ms Blossom'. 'Thank you' Cheryl smiled. When the nurse left the room Toni turned to Cheryl 'is that okay? I mean if I stay with you, if you want a professional caregiver that's fine too'. 'It's fine TT, thank you' she smiled sweetly, the thought of spending time with Toni at home again made her heart skip a beat.

'Hey just so you guys know I don't think make up sex will be the recommended treatment when you get home but I'll ask a nurse to double check' Veronica laughed. 'Oh my god V, Tommy is right here' Cheryl blushed. 'What? He's fast asleep' Veronica smirked. 'Don't worry Veronica, we won't even be in the same bed' Toni confirmed causing the redhead to frown in her direction. 'You won't be?' Veronica questioned. 'No, Cheryl needs to heal, I don't want to hurt her' Toni nodded. 'I bet, it has been a while right?' Veronica teased. 'You're insufferable' Cheryl said rolling her eyes at her best friend 'but you don't need to worry about me Toni, you won't hurt me, I've already been in a car accident you couldn't do any more damage than that'. 'See even Cheryl can't wait' Veronica laughed at her friends red face. 'Do you want to leave?' Cheryl jokingly raised an eyebrow. Veronica closed her mouth trying to get control of herself, she had missed teasing her best friend. Toni couldn't wait to get Cheryl home but not for the reasons Veronica was insinuating, she wanted to be the one to look after Cheryl and be there for her whenever she needed to be.

Veronica and Archie stayed and talked for around another hour. 'Hey T, we're gonna head home do you need a ride?' Veronica asked. 'No thanks guys, Tommy's still sleeping, we'll get a Uber later on, if that's okay with you Cher?' Toni asked. 'Of course' Cheryl smiled. 'Okay well, we'll be here tomorrow to take you home Cheryl' Veronica smiled. 'I look forward to it' the redhead smiled as they said their goodbyes, Cheryl couldn't wait to be in her own bed either. When Veronica and Archie had left Cheryl turned to look at Toni 'do you want to tell me what happened to your hand?'. 'Oh this' she said raising her arm a little 'it's nothing'. 'Come on Toni, if we're together we need to be honest with each other' Cheryl said her eyebrow slightly raised. 'Okay fine, when we broke up I hit a bathroom tile but don't worry the tile came out worse' Toni tried to joke. 'Oh TT' Cheryl sighed, the redhead couldn't really judge since she punched the mirror in her bathroom causing it to shatter 'you must have hit it hard to break your hand'. 'Actually...' Toni smiled sheepishly. 'What?' Cheryl looked confused. 'It wasn't punching the tile that broke my hand' Toni knew the redhead was going to be mad. 'Then what was it?' Cheryl questioned. 'I can't tell you, you're going to be angry' Toni put her head down. 'Toni, you better tell me what you did right now' Cheryl tried to shout but whisper at the same time as not to wake Tommy. Toni looked at Cheryl again seeing her face a little red with frustration. 'Fine... I punched Madison' Toni shrugged. 'You did what?' Cheryl couldn't believe it 'Toni she could have had you arrested, what about Tommy?'. 'Look Cher, I was angry, I thought I was going to lose you and I saw her while Archie was driving me home to get my things. I lost control, I'm sorry okay but I thought you was going to die and I blamed Madison for us breaking up when in reality I was angry at myself for allowing her to manipulate me into leaving you' Toni wiped away her tears. Cheryl sighed 'it's alright, I understand but I'm fine now so promise me you won't react like that to anything again, Tommy always has to come first, alright?' Cheryl gave her a sympathetic smile. 'It won't happen again, I promise' Toni nodded.

Toni could see that Cheryl was getting tired and as much as she didn't want to leave her she had to get Tommy home. 'I should go Cher' Toni whispered. 'I know' Cheryl smiled sadly. 'Only tonight babe and then you'll be home' Toni smiled. 'I know, I can't wait' Cheryl sighed. Tommy must have felt the shift because his dark eyes fluttered open as he looked up at Cheryl. 'Hey Tommy, your mommy is going to take you home now' the redhead smiled at him. 'But I don't want to leave you' he said sadly. 'Well' Toni interrupted 'Cheryl is allowed home tomorrow, what do you think about me and you looking after her' Toni asked. 'Are we going home with Cheryl too?' he asked hopefully. 'We are' she smiled 'so we need to get lots of sleep tonight so we can do our best to help her, what do you say?'. 'Okay' he said looking at his mother and then turning to the redhead. He wrapped his small arms around her and Toni was about to tell him to be careful not to hurt Cheryl but the redhead shook her head. Toni could tell the hug meant as much to Cheryl as it did to Tommy.

Cheryl placed a kiss on Tommy's cheek before Toni helped him off the bed. She had booked an Uber to take them home before she leaned in to Cheryl capturing her lips in a sweet kiss. 'I'll see you at home tomorrow okay? I love you' Toni smiled. 'Okay, I love you too' Cheryl smiled as Toni took Tommy's hand and led him towards the door. Toni sent her a wink as Tommy waved goodbye before following his mother out of the room. Cheryl was exhausted but she couldn't help but think back to what Tommy said earlier about him having two mommies, he was the sweetest boy in the world. The redhead couldn't believe he looked at her as his parent, it was probably the biggest achievement of her life, no, it was the biggest achievement of her life. He showed her what unconditional love was and she couldn't love him more. Tomorrow couldn't come around any quicker, she could slowly get her life back on track now she had Toni and Tommy by her side.
