Zeke grabbed my wrist and took me back outside to talk.

"You two should not be alone, where are you going?" A guard said to the both of us.

"We are going to pray for our sins as Eldians. Care to join?" Zeke gave the guard a cold stare, but his voice was relaxed when he spoke. We didn't want to piss off any Marleyans.

Our red armbands don't mean a thing, we are still Eldians to them.

"Psh, whatever. Hurry it up." He rolled his eyes and continued back to his post.

Zeke and I sat at a bench outside the housing unit.

He began to speak in a hushed volume.

"I know both our parents were sent to the island. We have the same objective when we get there, but if anything were to happen to Pieck and I and we have to leave you there, blend in as much as you can."

"What-"

"Also, at some point in the mission, I'm going to need you to go undercover and collect intel on the Paradis government. Pack normal casual clothes."

"Zeke, is this some kind of sick joke? We'd be going against our orders. We are honorary Marleyans. Don't forget that."

I was starting to get a little angry. Does he not remember what it felt like to be the child from a family of traitors?

"Just trust me on this. I don't think your family on the island is dead."

My eyes widened. I lost feeling in my whole body.

My family could be... alive? I thought to myself. I couldn't get myself to believe this.

"We can't tell Pieck about this, it's important that you pretend to be a Paradis civilian. Trust me."

Zeke extended his arm in hopes that I'd shake his hand. His voice spoke words that I waited so long to hear. My family. It felt like a different reality to even think about having a family. I was so young when I lost them, that I was used to the feeling of being alone.

Zeke spoke words I've longed to hear, but I knew better. I've known Zeke since we were kids and he would never lie to me, but it felt like he was playing a cruel joke on me.

"You're a sick man, Zeke." Just as I pushed myself off of the bench, Porco approached the both of us with protective eyes.

"Zeke. Is there a reason you're talking in private with my fiance?" Porco grabbed my hand and pulled me to his side.

"Fiance, eh? You really believe us Eldians could have a happy ending? Hope you aren't thinking of having children." He scoffed the last sentence under his breath. I think I was the only one to hear it.

Porco was going to say something back until I dragged him away from Zeke. The last thing us Eldians needed was to draw unneeded attention towards us.

"Porco, we need to talk."

He stopped walking and faced my direction. We both looked at each other in the eyes.

Porco was so rude to everyone around him, but to me, he was the most gentle person. I could never forget that about him.

"I have to go on a mission with Zeke and Pieck." I didn't think about my next words, instead I just spat them out.

"We're getting sent to Paradis to recover the Founding Titan and figure out why the four of them haven't come back yet."

Sweat was building up on my forehead. I didn't want to tell him, but I needed to.
