Levi's POV
Everything has taken a turn for the worst after we found out the contents of the basement.
After taking back Wall Maria, things we're supposed to calm down.
But it didn't.
Quite the opposite, actually.
I lost so many things that day.
I lost Erwin, my best friend. A man who took me in when I was a worthless piece of shit from the Underground.
I lost my fellow comrades. They fought hard and we all made a promise that their deaths will not be for nothing.
Also on that day, I lost her.
I blame myself for not being able to kill the hairy bastard when I had the chance. Seeing them run off and take her from me was the worst feeling in the world.
She slipped through my fingers and I don't know if I'll ever see her again.
It's been two months since that day.
Time was supposed to heal my wounds, but it hasn't.
I saw the sea for the first time.
The large body of water that those brats would talk about.
The stories were true, it did have a lot of salt. It was amazing. There was so much water that it stretched out for miles. You couldn't see where it ended.
I couldn't help but remember that just across that large body of water, there were more humans. From the books left behind, we learned more about where you were from. Marley.
Somewhere, just across the sea, you were there.
I want to be with you, holding you. Telling you that you'll never be alone again.
If things were different, you wouldn't have left me. I would have been able to protect you.
We come from different sides of the sea, (y/n).
But, your home is here with me.
It's time for you to come back home.
It's been two long months without you.
I'll never forget your (e/c) eyes. They seemed so plain to you, but they were beautiful to me.
Today we're presenting all the information from the basement to the government. It took awhile to read through all the books Grisha had.
We also had to make sure everything was legit from what Eren could remember from his father's memories.
I liked being alone. During our breaks, I'd sit outside on an empty bench and get lost in my thoughts.
Oftentimes, I'd lose track of time.
"Whatcha thinking about over there shorty?" Hange said while taking a seat next to me.
"Nothing. Just thinking," I replied.
"You miss her don't you?"
I stayed quiet. Hange already knows the answer to that question.
But hearing someone else bring her up, only reminds me that she was real and that she was here before.
Is she okay, right now? Is she lonely?
Did she remember to eat? Has she checked on her wound from her head injury?
Has she already started to forget me?
"Ahhh, well! If it makes you feel better you'll always have me!"
Hange slumped down in the seat and put their hands behind their head.
"Don't worry shorty, we'll get her back," Hange patted my head.
I hate when she does that shit, but I'll let it slide this time.
"Do you think she'll even want to come back?"
"I don't know, Levi," Hange's eyes grew soft and glossy, "We can only hope that being here was enough to show her that we aren't bad people and that we'd accept her back regardless."
"Yeah, right."
Later on that night, I went back to my room and sat at my desk to finish paperwork.
I went to reach for my tea, but I knocked over a bunch of papers to the floor.
"Shit," I shuffled all the papers when I noticed something unfamiliar in the pile.
Under all the paperwork was a small piece of paper decorated with small hearts that read, For Levi.
I figured this had to have been from her. I grabbed the letter and held it close to my chest.
I miss her more than anything.
With unsteady hands, I began to open the letter.
"Captain!" Armin barged into my office.
"Tch, what the hell did I tell you about knocking first? What the hell do you need?"
"Sorry, sir! Premier Zachary requested you right away. He says it's urgent!"
"It really can't wait, just give me 5 minutes," my voice was quiet. I was hiding the tears that I swallowed back.
I never turned my head to look at the door. Armin didn't need to see his Captain showing weakness.
"With all due respect sir, they need you now. I was given strict orders for you to go immediately."
I clenched the paper in my hand and grunted.
The one time I find a small piece of her and I can even get 5 minutes of peace to read it.
