Every day was the same.
I'd wake up, take a short walk around the area where I was permitted.
It wouldn't take up much of my time, so I'd just sit in the dirt and watch the sky fall into night.
Being in the forest all day and night was draining. It was starting to make me dizzy and ill.
I'd throw up the small amount of food I was given. I figured I was probably getting sick from all the bug bites I was getting from being outside all day.
The soldiers stood guard 24/7 and didn't hesitate to make it known that Zeke and I were still considered the enemies.
The only person who would talk to me every now and then was Varis.
We would only exchange words for a short while before people noticed and would give him a death glare.
Every night was the same as well.
Levi would sneak into my tent, fuck me, and then leave.
We'd go about our days like nothing ever happened.
It stung a little. I knew that he had no ill intentions, but he wasn't good at expressing his feelings and I was in no position to force anything out of him.
I could tell something was bothering him, but I didn't pry.
One day there was a massive delivery from Marley.
All the soldier's had rushed the cart before it could come to a full stop.
They all had eager expressions on their faces as they opened the boxes and revealed fine red wine in large glass bottles.
"Captain, this is a rare Marleyan wine that only MP's have gotten to drink!"
"Why do you need to have wine while you're on duty?" Levi protested.
They continued to argue in favor of drinking the wine.
"Survey Corps newbies worked hard to get this to us! Are you just going to let it sit here? We deserve a little bit of fun."
"We have tea," Levi countered. But eventually he caved in after minutes of arguing.
When the sun went down and all seemed to be safe, the soldiers would enjoy their lukewarm wine in small cups.
Varis offered me a cup, but since I'd been feeling ill I didn't think it was a good idea to drink alcohol.
Zeke was quiet as ever. He sat on his log and read the same book over and over again.
Levi would sit near him just to glare.
I thought it was hilarious to watch.
After some time went by, we learned that Premier Zackary had been killed.
I heard two soldiers telling Levi about this news, along with new information. I didn't turn around, but I was close enough to hear their conversation.
One of the voices I recognized to be Varis.
"We believe all the chaos is being caused by Zeke through Eren and Yelena..." the words trailed off for a bit, "The Yeagerists will probably be brought to Zeke, just as they've been demanding."
The Yeagerists?
I tried to listen in a little more. I noticed Zeke scratching his ear continuously, meaning he probably just heard every single word they said.
"...you mean have someone else eat Eren, right? By our hands?"
"Yes."
I got up and rushed to Zeke, trying to make it seem like a normal confrontation.
"Has this been your plan all along Zeke? To torment these people into making sure you get your way?"
He remained quiet, his eyes were fixated on the book in front of him.
"You mean to tell me that all this time I had been following a fraud."
He sighed, "I'm doing what I have to do to save Eldia. I told you that before, do you not believe me anymore? Has your faith in me changed?"
"I don't know what I was thinking of following you here, but I figured anything would be better than sitting in a cramped cell for the rest of my life. I was wrong though, because this is worse."
"Is it, (y/n)? You knew there would be consequences."
I slapped the book out of his hands and onto the floor.
"Oh. So little angry (y/n) decided to finally come out."
"Go to fucking hell Zeke."
I began to walk towards Levi to give him reassurance on his ill suspicions of Zeke.
He had been holding his head and squeezing his eyelids shut, almost like he had the biggest headache in the world.
"Hey, Levi-"
Before I could finish, I was interrupted by a death scream that Zeke had let out. He was running deep into the trees.
The ground started shaking.
Levi grabbed my arm and pulled me up by the waist. He used ODM to get us off of the ground and into the tall branches.
There below us, where all of the soldiers once were standing.
They were all mindless titans chasing after us.
Varis.
I could see him below too.
Levi's was horrified at the sight of them.
"I'm sorry," was all I could muster up.
