That next day we started our journey to Shiganshina.
We had a giant and loud send off from the people in Wall Rose sending their well wishes and praises.
The Scouts were loving the attention.
"Captain Levi! Good luck out there! Thanks for savin' our city!" One man yelled.
Levi's facial expression didn't change, but I know it made him happy to be acknowledged in good graces.
Jean, Sasha, and Connie all shouted in unison, "Yeah! You can count on us!"
Just as I thought everything was settling down, Erwin threw his fist in the air and yelled. This only encouraged the crowd below to follow.
Erwin was really enjoying himself, "The operation to retake Wall Maria begins now!"
We were escorted down with our horses to the other side of the wall.
Once we hit the ground, we all rode off together.
Leaving behind Wall Rose, not knowing who would come back alive or dead.
When the sun went down, we started to walk.
The titans wouldn't be active in the night and if we came across a titan, there was a plan just in case we needed to take it down.
I was walking behind Levi with my horse.
We hadn't talked much since that night and with a lot of people around us, I doubt he'd approach me first.
Not knowing the outcome of this operation only makes me more eager to talk to him.
"Hey Levi," I jogged a little to catch up to him.
He looked at me to acknowledge my presence and gave me a small nod.
"I know right now isn't the best time to talk, but I just want you to make it out of this operation alive, got it?"
Levi's eyes were glued to the trail in front of him. I could tell he was nervous even when he didn't show it.
I saw his left arm dangling to the side while his right arm was occupied holding his horse.
I brushed my hand against his in hopes he'd get the sign I was sending.
He did.
He softly grabbed my hand and held it.
Levi's hand was steady, but his palm was warm.
I'm guessing it was from the nerves that were taking over.
I smiled and kept my eyes on the trail. This small act made me feel hopeful.
I want to hold his hand forever.
As we were walking everyone had their own quiet conversations.
Hange was talking about wanting to capture one of the titans that can move around at night.
Armin was giving Eren some words of encouragement in hopes of comforting him.
The walk was long, but we eventually reached sight of the wall.
Erwin yelled, "There could be titans anywhere, so keep your guard up! This operation has officially begun! All troops, switch to ODM gear!"
Everyone quickly rode their horses to the wall. All movements were swift and organized as everyone got off their horses and headed up the wall.
Erwin and I had come up with our plan. All members are to keep their hoods on, hiding their faces from the enemies.
I was here before, so I know Reiner, Bertholdt, and Zeke are nearby. They wouldn't have left without a tough fight.
