Never Meant To Be

Chapter Nineteen

Aria's POV

"You are hurting me sir."

He stared at me so intently without saying a word.

"You make me sick Aria, you know that. First it was Erick, then that bakery boyfriend of yours, and now you are after Connor, for goodness sake he's married Aria, is that why you wore very tight clothes, so that you can seduce men here?" He said as he pushed me making me stumbling backwards but I held onto the desk for support.

"I am not trying to seduce anyone. Connor and I are just friends and Xander just gave me a job at his bakery and I have no idea who Erick is." I said but he just stared at me.

He stared at me for a while before starting to walk towards the door.

"Axel!" I called and he stopped in his tracks but he still had his back on me.

"I know that you hired me so that you can get your revenge on me, but trust me, things aren't the way they seem."

He turned around and walked towards me. I couldn't tell what was going on in his mind, he was just staring at me with a blank expression. He held out his hand and reached up to my face and I flinched as I closed my eyes, was he going to hit me?

I felt his finger brush against my nostril and I opened my eyes to see blood on his thumb. I touched beneath my nose only to find blood flowing out of my nose.

Axel turned around and I watched him make his way towards his office.

I quickly rushed inside the bathroom and washed my face. I then put down the toilet seat and sat on the toilet facing upwards, hoping that would stop the nose bleeding.

As I stared at the ceiling, I remembered how Axel looked at me when he saw the blood coming out of my nose.

Does he suspect anything?

"What the hell is wrong with that receptionist? Why didn't she want you to go in?" Cassie said as I told her about my encounter with Lisa, the mean receptionist.

"She said that I couldn't see Axel without an appointment."I explained.

"Well did you tell her about that Axel to you to go to his office." Cassie asked.

"Yes I did but she still wouldn't listen, but it's not like I'm surprised I'm used to people treating me that way anyway." I said as I continued sketching on my notebook.

There was a moment of silence before Cassie spoke up again.

"But luckily Axel got there and and like prince charming he came for his princess." Cassie said and I looked at her.

"What? It is true he came for you." She said as she held took a sip of her juice.

"Yeah, but not like the prince charming way but more like the I want to hire you so that I can get revenge on you way." I said and I went back to my sketching.

The doorbell rang and Cassie stood up to go and get it.

"Two boxes of pizzas just like you asked for." I heard Xander's voice say and I turned around towards the door.

"Really Cassie." I said and she innocently shrugged.

"What! I had an assignment and by the time I was done with it, I was too tired to cook."

"You always say that almost every night when it is your turn to cook dinner." I said.

"I think we can all agree that Cassie is a little bit spoilt." Xander said and Cassie slapped his arm making him whine and I laughed.
