Never Meant To Be

Chapter Eleven

Aria's POV

I woke up and the bright lights shone in my eyes and I quickly closed them. Was I in heaven? Was this how heaven looked like?

"Is she up already?" I heard a female voice ask.

"I don't know, but I think I saw her open her eyes." A male voice answered.

"Go get the doctor." The female said and I heard a pair of footsteps go away and a door locking.

Wait! Did I just hear doctor? They are no doctors in heaven, are they?

I slowly open my eyes letting them adjust to the lights. 

"Hey, you are up?" I turned my head to the side and saw a young girl smiling at me. She was black and wearing spectacles and her hair was braided. She seem like she was 5'1 feet tall. She was really beautiful.

"How are you feeling?" She asked and I tried to sit up but I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head.

"Ouch!" I closed my eyes and I felt someone's hands on my arms.

"Lay back down, don't strain your body." She said as she helped me lie back down on the bed.

Just then the door open and the doctor came in with a nurse in tow, and a teenage boy.

"I can see you're awake already. Let me run some tests on you and see how you are progressing." The doctor said as he put his stethoscope over my chest and listened to my heartbeat, it reminded me of my check-ups back at home with my doctor, which reminded me of Axel.

"I can see your heartbeating rate is okay. You have two broken ribs on your right side, your left leg is fracture but we have put plaster on it and you have minor injuries on your head. Though it will take a really long time for you to recover because you have lost a lot of blood, and being a victim of leukemia your body's immunity is very weak."

"How long will you think she take to recover?" The girl asked.

"She will take a couple of months."

"When will she be discharged." The boy asked.

"You can take her home in two weeks time, but she will have to be looked after properly so as to fully recover."

"Okay." She said.

"Do you feel any pain....."

"It's Aria, Aria Watson." I told the doctor and he nodded.

"Well Miss Watson, are you feeling any pain?"

"Yeah, at the back of my head and my right side." I said.

"The nurse will give you an injection that will ease down the pain, and then you will be able to rest." He said and left the room. The nurse gave the injection which was not very painful, as I was already used to getting injections.

"Have some rest now." The middle aged nurse told me as she smiled sweetly.

"Thank you." The girl told her and she left the room.

"You feeling okay?" The girl asked softly as she came to sit by my side.

"Yeah." I said.

"Why were you standing in the middle of the road? You could have gotten killed you know." The boy said.

"Xander!" The girl hissed at the boy as she slapped him on his arm.

"Don't mind him." She said as she smiled at me.

"My name is Cassandra, but you can call me Cassie, and this is Xander, my best friend." She said.

"I am Aria." I introduced myself again.
