Aria's POV
"Okay Ms.Watson, here is your report, and please be sure to take your medicine on time, strictly stick to your diet and don't put yourself under too much pressure okay." The doctor said as he handed me the envelope containing my report and I nodded.
I felt Cassie give my hand a light squeeze and I looked at her and she smiled at me.
"Don't worry about anything, if you exactly as I told maybe there might be still room for improvement." He reassured and I gave him a small smile.
"Thank you doctor." Cassie said and we stood up from our chairs and walked out of his office.
We walked down the hallway and I thought about what the doctor had said.
I am sorry to say this Ms.Watson, but your health is getting worse.
You are in the fourth stage of leukemia and you have to be very careful with taking care of yourself.
You are responding to the chemotherapy treatment and if it continues this way then......
I felt a hand on my shoulder and I looked to see Cassie staring at me with sad eyes.
"Ari, everything is going to be okay, don't worry about it." She said softly as she called me by the nickname she had given me, and I tried to put on a smile to assure her that I am fine but I knew she did not buy it.
We went to the parking lot and got in Cassie's car. I took out my phone to see if there was any text or call from Axel but there was none.
"If he doesn't want to call back or even text you, don't bother yourself, you know you can always tell him the truth." Cassie said as she stared straight at the road.
"And have him pity me, no way Cassie."
I had sent Axel a text this morning informing him that I would not be at work but he had not responded. I even tried calling him multiple times but he did not pick up.
I usually have my appointment with the doctor on Saturdays but yesterday evening he called me to tell me that he won't be available on Saturday as he had something important to attend to, and so we had to reschedule the appointment to today.
It was so sudden but I had to go as I could not afford to miss my chemotherapy treatment. I had even told Howard that I won't be at work today.
"How long?" Cassie asked and I looked at her confused.
"Huh?" I asked as I furrowed my eyebrows.
"How long are you going to keep all this from Axel?"
I turned to look at the view outside through the window, as I did not know what to say.
I had never thought about that question. I am trying so hard not to let Axel find out about anything, but how long will I be able to do this? How long am I going to be the bad person, while my father, the person responsible for everything is out there free while I take the blame for everything? How long am I going to cry, knowing very well that I am innocent?
It's not like it matters anyway, as it is, my days on this are almost over.
"One way or another Ari, Axel is going to find out about everything, whether you tell him or someone else tells him, or he will find out himself." Cassie said as she pulled over in front of Xander's bakery.
We got out of the car went inside. Xander looked up as soon as we entered the bakery and immediately his eyes sparkled upon seeing Cassie.
These two are really adorable.
