Chapter Sixteen

Aria's POV

"Aria! Aria!"

I broke out of my chain of thoughts when I heard Cassie call my name while she snapped her fingers in front of my face. I looked out the car window and realized that we had already arrived at Campbell Glams Corporation. I felt my heartbeat picking up the pace as panic washed over me.

"Hey! Aria!" Cassie called out again as she her hand in front of my face.

"Yes." I said absentmindedly.

"You were lost in thoughts again."

"Ummm..... yeah....I...." I sighed as I looked at her.

"I don't know Cassie, I'm feeling really scared. I mean, who knows what is going on in Axel's mind right. Why does he want to give me this job? Obviously he has no intention of helping after everything I did to him and what are his plans with me does he want he want to hurt or do something bad to me I am under so much pressure that....."

"Ari, calm down and take a deep breath." Cassie said as she held my shoulders and I did as she told.

"Take another deep breath." I took another deep breath but nothing was helping to come me down.

"Do you feel calm now?" Cassie asked and I shook my head.

"You know you can always tell him the truth."

"No Cassie, I can't do that to my father, despite his unacceptable behavior I can let him go through such humiliation."

"Wow Ari, after everything he's done to you, you still care about him."

I felt tears starting to form in my eyes but I quickly blinked them away.

"Anyway, I have to go. It's almost eight and I don't want to be late." I said getting out of the car.

"Bye Ari, and good luck."

"Thanks Cassie." I said waving at her as I watch her drive off.

"You can do this Aria, you can do this. He is still the Axel you knew from two years ago so no need to be scared of anything." I gave myself a pep talk as I walked inside the building.

I spotted the receptionist's desk and walked over to it. There was a beautiful blonde woman sitted behind it typing on her computer while she was speaking on the telephone.

She didn't seem to acknowledge my presence so I waited for her to finish speaking on the phone before seeking her attention. She finished talking on the telephone and placed it down and went back to typing on the computer.

I cleared my throat but she didn't seem to hear me.

"Umm... excuse me?"

She looked at me with a horrified expression on her face.

"Eww, what are you doing here? We do not allow beggars so go away before I call security." She said pointing towards the door.

Really! First a child calls me a monster and now she is calling me a beggar. Was I even dressed like a beggar? I was wearing Cassie's clothes and heels, and I thought I looked formal.

I felt a hard lump form in my throat and I swallowed.

"Actually, I am here to see Ax... I mean Mr.Campbell." I said and she gave me a questioning look that said 'Are you serious?'

"You are not allowed to see Mr.Campbell unless you have an appointment." She went to typing on her computer.

"I do have an appointment, my name is Aria Watson."
