Never Meant To Be

Chapter Forty Three

Axel's POV

Cassie told me everything, she told me the reason behind Aria's refusal to marry me. She told me how Aria's father treated her, how he wanted to take advantage of Aria's illness for his selfish benefits, she told me what happened to her after her father threw her out of their house.

I was not thinking straight as I was driving, I almost got into a truck as I was driving but the truck driver was quick to swerve away, but I still did not stop to see if there was any damage done, all my mind was thinking was what Cassie had told me about Aria.

My phone rang again but I did not bother seeing who was calling me. I can't believe what Aria had gone through.

I arrived at my house and walked towards the door, with every step I took, I imagined what Aria had gone through.

Her father threw her out of the house.

I opened the door and walked inside the house.

"Welcome home sir." George, my butler greeted but I just walked passed him and went towards the kitchen.

She tried killing herself but got saved by that bastard.

"Would you like to eat sir?" George asked again but I ignored him.

I held the counter and tried taking deep breaths to calm down, my breath was hitched in my throat and I felt sweat trickled down my forehead.

She got raped by different men.

"Sir, are you okay?" He asked but I continued taking deep breaths. "Do you need me to call your parents?"

No. The last thing I needed was my parents to be here right now because I know they would blame Aria for my condition.

I tried speaking up so that I can tell him not to call my parents but no words were coming out of my mouth.

She got into an accident.

I pointed towards the refrigerator and George went to open it.

"What do you want sir?" He asked.

"Wa....wa...water." I managed to say and George quickly brought it for me.

I gulped down the water until the bottle was halfway.

She lost her baby.

I tried placing the bottle on the counter but my trembling hands let the bottle slip and it fell on the floor, spilling the remaining water.

"Are you okay sir?" George asked again and I just kept quiet.

The door bell rang and he went to get it.

I leaned against the counter and slipped down onto the floor, tears started welling up in my eyes as I remembered what I had put Aria through.

She went through all that because of me but I just pushed her away from me. Despite all that she still loved me, I accused of so many things but she never got upset with me.

"Axel! Axel!" I heard Aiden calling me but I did not answer him.

"Axel! Where are you man?" I heard his footsteps coming towards the kitchen.

"Axel! Are you in....." He stood talking when he saw me sitting on the floor.

"Axel! Why are sitting on the floor? Get up." He came towards me and tried helping me up but I made no effort to move.

"What is wrong with you? You left the hospital without informing me, I tried calling you multiple times you were not picking up, and I come and find you like this. What happened when you went to talk to Cassie?"
