Sarah's face lights up when she read the text from one of her closest friends. She replied it quickly.
"Happy New Year, Sam!" Where are you? Is your sister and her family still here in the Philippines?"
" No , they went home already. I am at a party right now, I was hoping to see you here."
"I was actually on my way there but something came up so decided to go home instead. How's the party so far?"
"Oh you know , the usual, lots of our mutual friends are here."
"Yap I know, anyway, enjoy. Hope we can get together sometimes."
"When? I have something for you. When is the best time to see you? Been a long time since the last time I saw you. I kind a miss hearing your laughters."
"Yeah , yeah , yeah!!" You know where to see me , you don't even drop by."
"If it's up to me, you know I will drop by everytime I know you are close by but you very well know the reasons."
"Oh yeah I know, just like the rest, scared of my parents."
"Not me, there are other reasons"
"Whatever they are , they are still stopping you from seeing me so let's just leave it like that. Have a great New Year."
"You too Sars. Hope to see you soon."

Sarah put away her phone and look outside the window. She sighed deeply.
New Year , New Life nga ba for her? She crossed her fingers ! She is determined to make some changes in her life this year.
"Ate ok ka lang?" Narinig ni Sarah ang bunsong kapatid na hindi niya namalayang nakapasok sa kwarto niya.
"Oo naman, bakit naman hindi" Tiningnan ang kapatid na nahiga sa bed niya.
"Malungkot ka na naman kasing nakatanaw sa malayo. Naalala mo na naman siya no?"
