UNMASKING THE DANCER

5. The condition

    *Flashback*

      A day ago,

        I sighted Mr Jon immediately I entered the bookshop because he stood out from the other customers with the hoodie and sunglass he was putting on. I could see Mrs Williams, the owner of the bookshop give him weird stares but I turned her attention from him by greeting her,

     "Good afternoon, Mrs Williams" I said to her,

     "Good afternoon Diane, how are you doing?",

      "Good ma",

      "What are you doing here, your shift was over since morning?" She asked,

     "I'm meeting someone",

      "Okay",

      I headed for Mr Jon while she went back to what she was doing, momentarily forgetting Mr Jon and his weird dressing, at least it was weird in our town.

     "Good afternoon" I greeted him sitting down and he returned the greeting cheerfully,

     "So, you've agreed to be our band dancer?" He asked,

     "Yes....... but on one condition" I replied and the smile slipped from his face,

     "And what will that be?",

     Lowering my voice even though few people were in the bookshop and we were far from people's earing range, I said, "I want to live two lives",

     "What does that mean?" He asked, confusion written on his face,

     "It means I want a different life from that of the band dancer. I also want to have a normal life where reporters won't follow me all day or try to squeeze information out of me",

      "Uhmmm, that's understandable but how do you plan on carrying that goal out",

     "Simple!, I would change my face and name",

     "Okay......",

      "I'm thinking of combining my middle name with my dad's middle name and that would be Kamilah Johnson. For my face, I was thinking you could help me with that....",

     "Me?!",

     "Yes",

       "But I don't know anything about changing one's look" ,

      "I know, but do you know someone who does?",

      A thoughtful crease appeared on his forehead, "I think I know someone who might be able to help you" he said after a few minutes,

    "Splendid",

     "Is that all?" He asked,

     "One more thing......, I'm going to keep my other life a secret from the band too" I replied,

     "Hold up, you're going to keep it from the band too",

     "Yeah, cause I totally want a normal life" I said putting emphasis on the normal life and he sighed,

     "It's okay then. I think I can keep a secret",

     "You had better".
