Ryan's pov

I stiffened up as Diane placed her lips on mine. I hadn't seen that coming at all and it had caught me unsuspecting.

I couldn't think of a reason why she had kissed me but I could attribute it to her being drunk and wasted.

She slumped against me indicating that she had passed out and I dropped my head to the floor in exhaustion.

Trying to keep the bottle of mixed drink away from her while she struggled against me had been exhausting, not to talk of the drink pouring over us as we fell down.

We stayed in that position for sometime as I was too tired to push her off me but I did it soon enough.

Rolling her off me was kind of hectic as she clung to me, making me think she was still awake but her deep breathing against my chest told me otherwise and I felt my patience wearing thin.

I finally got her off me and stood up to go find Jade, she would know what to do with her friend.

I opened the kitchen door and went into the party, making sure to scan every corner and soon enough I found her.

She stood at a corner with Jason and they seemed to be having a funny conversation as Jade was laughing, or maybe she was just tipsy.

She took a sip from the red cup in her hand as I approached them and sighted me as soon as I got to them,

"Ryan!, I've been searching the party for you" she said,

"I doubt that since you seem to be having fun with Jason here" I replied and she smiled sheepishly while Jason smiled widely.

I shook my head at the two of them before telling her the reason I had looked for her, "uhm, I think I need your help" I said to her and even Jason seemed to perk up at my statement,

"What's that",

"Your friend, Diane is drunk and needs to be taken home",

"What!, You mean Diane is drunk?" She asked,

"Seems like that to me" I replied sarcastically but she obviously didn't hear it,

"Where is she?" She asked and I pointed in the direction of the kitchen,

She sent an apologetic look to Jason and headed for the kitchen.

I stayed back and stood beside Jason, watching the crowd,

"So, did you have a fun time telling everyone about the party?" I asked, sarcasm lacing my tone and Jason heard it, as he chuckled lightly,

"Something like that, but I didn't tell much people. I just told some ladies since I thought it would be fun having some people over apart from ourselves",

"Hmmmm",

"Then they told other people who told other people and then, the party is full",

"Whatever, just know there's going to be a lot of cleaning tomorrow and you're aren't escaping that",

He groaned at that and I sensed a protest coming my way, so I raised my hand and shook my head, "it would also be fun doing some cleaning as it was fun doing some telling" I said and he sighed dejectedly.

We fell into silence, each of us having different thoughts of our own as the music from the speaker boomed.

I didn't need to bother about the neighbors as the houses had soundproof, so the music wouldn't be penetrating much.

We kept watching people dance and make out in secluded corners and a question i had always wanted to ask came to my mind now, "you know Jade likes you, right?" I asked and felt Jason tense beside me,

"I figured that out",

"Do you like her too",

"You could say that, since I think of her in a different way from other women" he answered almost immediately, nervousness written all over him,

"Okay then, but don't play with her heart. She may seem strong on the outside but has a fragile emotion",

"I would make sure to remember that" he answered, some of the tension leaving him

"And i'm not sorry to say that if you so much as make her shed a tear, I would be denting a hole in your face" I said again and he chuckled

"Well, I don't think we would get to that stage" he replied, relaxing against the wall.

As if on cue, Jade came out of the kitchen with a dead weight Diane leaning on her.

I moved through the crowd quickly to help her and upon getting to her, picked Diane up and carried her in my arms.

Now that she was in my arms, she didn't feel that heavy, so it was easier carrying her through the crowd, with Jade behind me.

We wove our way through the crowd and upon getting outside, went straight to Jade's car where it was parked.

Jade helped me in opening the door and I placed Diane gently on the backseat, leaving the rest for Jade to do.

I stepped away from the car and watched as Jade tucked her friend properly into the car, "how many cups of drink did she have?" She asked,

"Only one" I replied and Jade turned to face me,

"And who mixed the drink for her?",

"I did, but I didn't know that she hadn't had a drink before",

"Whatever" she said shaking her head.

She went to the driver's side, got in and moments later, drove away from the party.

I went back inside but instead of going to meet Jason, I went to the kitchen to fix a drink for myself.

I sort of needed it with all the emotions and feelings swirling inside me. My attraction towards Kamilah, the feeling I have for my friend from years back and now, i'm becoming intrigued by Diane, my sister's friend.

She intrigued me with her naivety, the way she always seemed to avoid me and her character which was to do things without thinking.

I headed straight for the fridge, brought out what I needed and minutes later, I had mixed a drink for myself.

I sipped from the plastic cup and leaned against the cabinet, unwilling to go back into the party where a lot of ladies who wanted my attention were.

I continued sipping the drink and was about done with it when I sighted something. It glinted gold and it was on the floor near the counter.

I moved to where it was and picked it up to find out that it was a locket in the shape of love. It looked very familiar to the one I gave my friend from years back and maybe that's why my heart started thudding against my chest.

I stood up straight and being unable to contain my curiosity, opened it, only for my jaws to drop open in disbelief.
