Muffled thuds and cracks came from GoD's lab. The door was tightly sealed. A nervous receptionist rang the doorbell. Raidne answered.
'What?'
'The, um, the Grand Master – a Commander wants to see him...'
'For what?'
'I don't know.'
'Tell them they can't just say they want to see the Grand Master and waltz on in. They need a reason.'
'I do have a reason!'
Feet shuffled. The Commander pushed past the receptionist. A slightly accented voice crept over the intercom.
'I bring good news! Fantastic news, even!'
'You can leave any news with the Grand Master's secretary or, if it's that important, contact another Admin.'
'I went straight to Master Ardos, ma'am–'
'Excuse me? It's Master Raidne, thank you.'
'But he was unavailable. The Grand Master must pass on this news!'
'The Grand Master is not a messenger Pidove! He's the Grand Master! Leave your "news" with his secretary!'
'I don't care,' GoD snapped, 'I'm busy. Tell her to fuck off.'
'But–'
Raidne cut her off before she could say more. The floor shook. On a vast screen, XD008 thrashed about in its heavily insulated cell, several floors below. The cell was built over three years in anticipation of XD008's arrival. It monitored every aspect of its occupant's state and powers while preventing escape by time travel. GoD planned to use it to simply experiment on XD008, but it was turning out to be useful for his new hypothesis, too... or it would have been if his experiments actually worked. Raidne ran simulations while he experimented with the real thing.
It was the most time GoD spent with her in years. That didn't warm her heart. He was colder than ever. He only spoke to bark commands. At least she knew he wasn't going home with Leucosia. After attempting to escape her cell by seducing a guard, GoD ordered them to keep her there indefinitely. He wasn't speaking to Brynlee or Primula, either. While he was shut in the lab, they couldn't expect sex unless they grovelled at the locked door, which Primula did; but both he and Raidne ignored her.
'Fuck.'
Raidne thought GoD was referring to XD008, but he couldn't help absentmindedly laying a hand on his sore face.
'That deranged bitch.'
'She looks like a Snover.'
'Not Holly. Your sister.'
'Well, you know I don't like her, either. But she's where she belongs now.'
'She sure is.'
Other than Ardos, all of Cipher's Admins and several Commanders were ordered to attack everyone on the list of suspects. They were only supposed to pretend to kick GoD in the face. Leucosia brutally attacked him instead. He thought she finally respected his authority, but she jumped at the first chance to take advantage of that temporary vulnerability.
Raidne returned to her simulations. The software was far more powerful than that at the Pokémon HQ Lab or Team Magma Lab. It kept crashing regardless. She was frustrated, but not because she couldn't help GoD until she successfully ran the simulation they had in mind. She feared that his experiments would put him in danger. If she didn't work it out soon, he would do something reckless.
