Wherever Jamie's relatives went, paparazzi waited. After 24 hours, 'ask me later' became 'refused to denounce Grand Master of Cipher.' Alfie and Lyndon did refuse. So did Horace, but he was in hot water himself. A reporter heard his interview with Pyrite Police. It was all over the media that he knew about Cipher, but instead of reporting them, began a business venture where Jamie let him snag Shadow Pokémon to charge their original Trainers for purification. He sold 20 Ditto, that he caught in Unova, to Jamie himself. No-one believed that he eventually felt bad because of Celebi.

Horace never cared what strangers thought. Jamie believed him. Wes, Seth and Brass believed him. Carlos and Tommy had no doubt it was true, because they saw it happen. He didn't, however, want to go to jail. He wanted to address his drinking problem and get on with his life. The International Police were willing to let him go with a caution and community service, but local police didn't agree. The case had to go to court.

As Orre's most senior International Police officer, Reira would usually have led their investigation, but she was related to Jamie by marriage. Zileh was directly related to both Jamie and Horace. Scarlet almost wasn't, but Cassia was Camden's godmother. It could only be Orvil.

It was clear to him that Jamie wasn't a flight risk, whatever they eventually decided to do with him. He was in Pyrite Town's public hospital, then. The wounds Ardos bandaged were infected. His jaw was yet to heal. Yet even Orvil was accused of being too soft on a relative of his colleagues.

Brynlee and Phineas' daughters thanked Jamie for 'doing the world a favour.' They were distressed to know their father's head was preserved in a jar, but relieved to finally bury it along with the rest of his body, which was in a mass grave of Brynlee's victims that Jamie directed police to. Her other child, Alice, was disgusted with both Jamie and her half-siblings. She insisted Brynlee needed help. That case had to go to court, too, but the problem was that it was far from the only serious charge.

Camden didn't want Jamie charged for impersonating him. At first, it was thought Leroy would be charged with kidnapping Reira and Zileh since he ran and maintained Cipher's jails, but Jamie admitted he didn't just drag them to their cells; he personally took their Pokémon and tortured Latios to turn it into XD009. He was responsible for every XD-series Pokémon produced while he ran Cipher.

Reira and Zileh still didn't want to press charges. They saw no benefit in contributing to the imprisonment of someone who, they believed, posed no further threat to society. The banks of Orre and Unova didn't feel the same way. It was international news when two masked robbers, armed with knives, grenades and 'terrifying' Pokémon, actually managed to steal trillions in gold from the Bank of Unova in Castelia City.

One of those masked robbers was 18 year-old Jamie. The money went into Obsidian City. Some speculated that Jamie was claiming things he didn't do to make himself look stronger than he was, but it never occurred to the International Police that a random Orrean boy was the culprit. His DNA wasn't in their systems.

Now it was, they found that the long eyelash recovered from the trashed bank was indeed his. He wouldn't say who the other robber was. The footprints matched Lavender's. She posted a photo of herself, which she credited Jamie for, in Nimbasa City a few days before the robbery.

After a long psychiatric assessment, Jamie was discharged to let police in to Obsidian City. Every entrance and subway tunnel was closed to prevent anyone getting in or out before then. Jamie thought it might be humiliating if his followers saw him in defeat, giving in to the insufferable heroes; but they still revered him, to the point that if this was his decision, they believed it was the right one.

He told Trip he couldn't commit to anything. It was clear he could. Orvil had to stay close enough to grab him if he ran. He couldn't help thinking, as he watched Jamie lead local cops to every piece of evidence they needed, that he could be an asset to society as Lyndon and even Alfie were. He was a genius, but not the type who withdrew into a lab, never to be seen in the sunlight. For better or worse, he was an excellent leader who inspired and motivated his followers.
