Orvil only got an hour's sleep before returning to the International Police office in Gateon Port at 6AM. Emma was already there. Pierre was asleep on the floor. Amongst mugshots and images of Obsidian City was a photo of Nora. Emma glanced up at Orvil.

'Mr. Sawyer... you look exhausted. You should go back home to sleep.'

'It's OK. I'm just tossing and turning right now, to be honest.'

'Well, I did want to ask... do you know much about this missing child? Leonora Floyd?'

'Oh, yeah. We have the case file right here.'

Jamie didn't care if Amber told Reira that Keira was actually April. Reira relayed that to Emma. Orvil took the file from a bookcase to place it on the desk.

'Unfortunately, no-one's ever reported seeing her. Not even a false alarm. We've assumed she must be dead, but she wasn't in Brynlee's mass grave.'

'I think she must be alive and in hiding, which I respect if that's a choice she made of her own free will... but once her mother is jailed, she doesn't need to live in fear anymore. I'm sure she'd like to be reunited with her father and siblings.'

Long before April made a decision about what to do next, Zileh arrested April in her garden in Gateon Port. Even if Jamie never shared the full story with Emma, April was guilty of identity fraud and abuse of her own children. Poor Bryar was a wreck. He felt responsible for enabling April, even for Nora's disappearance in doing so, but he couldn't have known.

Radios beeped in synchrony. A panicked voice crackled over them.

'PCPD Chief Carmine Hexagon to IP. Requesting backup.'

Emma picked up her radio. 'Chief Baudelaire to PCPD. What's your situation?'

'Shadow Pokémon attack on the bus carrying 27 Cipher members to the Wilderness Jail. First attacker identified, Ryland Booth. Three more masked.'

'On it. Over.'

Emma grabbed stiff fabric draped over the back of her chair. It was her 'stupid suit,' the Expansion Suit. Before fastening her helmet, she shook Pierre awake.

'It's possible this is a distraction to draw us away from the investigation. Please stay here to protect the evidence. In the event that I am captured, you answer to Zileh Ross.'

'Yes, Chief!'

Orvil followed Emma out. As her Volcarona took off, she called Scarlet and Zileh. They joined Pierre at the office. An app gave the bus' co-ordinates, but as they passed Pyrite Town, they didn't need any guidance. The smoke billowing from the flaming wreck told them exactly where it was. It was surrounded by officers from Phenac and Pyrite, but there weren't enough to fight off the Shadow Pokémon and chase the escaping prisoners.

Emma read that Cipher loved to release all their Pokémon at once. She released all six of hers as she leapt off Volcarona onto an attacker's shoulders. The woman shrieked as she was slammed to the floor. Her helmet rolled away. Dyed-silver hair fell from its squashed bun. Orvil grabbed Paige's legs to bind them as Emma handcuffed her. He rolled from a knife's path. Emma's foot flew at the new attacker's helmet. It was flung off his head into his Shadow Nidoking's face.

For a moment, Ryland looked bizarrely terrified. Emma understood. Looking at her helmet, Ryland felt like he was looking at GoD.

Then she had an idea. She didn't like to bother Reira and Latios, who was only purified two days ago, but it was the fastest Pokémon they had.

'...Brings the suit.'

That was all Orvil heard. He was wrestling another attacker away from exhausted Carmine, who was out of Pokémon, before she was stabbed.
