"Miriam Tolentino is one of the evaluators while her daughter is one of the sponsors of the pageant. Sponsor din ang mga Acosta. Dapat ay si Don Crisostomo ngunit nagsabing hindi makakadalo kaya ipinadala ang kaniyang mga apo," explained Noriel as he watched the other visitors walking proudly and making their way in front of me.

The air whispered through my ears gently, joining the chirping birds to its little concert from outside of our Casa. The sunrays are peaking in between the branches of the trees as it swayed with the rhythm of the wind. Marahang nilipad ng hangin pakanluran ang aking buhok. Sinikop ko iyon at inilagay sa kabilang direksyon.

Palihim kong hinilot ang aking sintido dahil sa pagkirot nito. I odn't expect that this would turn out as unexpected as this.

"Ayos ka lang Senyorita?" tanong ni Noriel sa tabi ko. Marahan akong tumango.

"Just a little headache. Nothing to worry," I said.

"Tolentinos! Glad you came," si Mayor ang unang bumati sa mga bagong dating na bisita. Ngiti agad ang iginawad ng mga Tolentino. Nakipagbeso kay Mayor samantalang nakipagkamay naman ang dalawang Acosta. "My, my! If it wasn't Captain Isaac Camillo Acosta! Narito ka pala.Kailan ka pa nakababa ng barko hijo?"

"Some weeks ago, Mayor," answered him on his baritone voice. It sent chills on me upon hearing it. Pasimple kong hinaplos ang mga braso ko nang maramdaman ang pagtaas ng mga balihibo ko.

"Magandang umaga Mayor," matamis na bati ni Mariam Tolentino kay Mayor Roque, interrupting the Mayor's supposed conversation with Camillo. Nalipat sa kaniya ang attention ko.

If it wasn't for her clothes, I'll consider Mariam Tolentino as one of the candidates of the pageant. Wearing her off shoulder flower dress and a three inches heels and her heavy make up like those of the candidates, she slayed the morning. Ayos na ayos siya at parang rarampa nga kasama ang mga kandidata.

On the other side, Ynarra Acosta is looking simple yet screaming with class on her cowgirl attire. Bumagay iyon sa kaniyang maamong mukha na hindi man lang yata nalapat kahit lipstick.

"Nasaan nga pala ang Don Armando?" ask Miriam Tolentino na dumapo ang mga mata sa akin. Lumingon sa akin ang Mayor kasunod ng paglingon ng iba pa. I gave them a small smile.

The truth is... I did not expect this scenario. People of my past are here, standing in front of me as if nothing happened in between us eight years ago. I was expecting it would take long... no... I was expecting that our path will no longer cross because I etched to my mind that I won't stay here for weeks.

Maybe I was wrong. Maybe I underestimate the power of fate. Maybe I really ignored the idea that fate never play fair. May it was it.

At hindi linggo o buwan ang kailangan ko... It just a matter of a day before our eyes meet again...

"Pasensya na po Mrs. Tolentino but the Don was rushed to the hospital last night." Si Noriel na ang sumagot.

"Oh! Sorry! Hindi namin alam." She said and averted her eyes from me to the Mayor. "What about today's event?"

"Don't worry Miriam, we have Mayumi here to accommodate us. I'm sure she is as good as Don Armando."

"Really?"
