Quinn's POV

I walked beside Sawyer with Avery ahead of us navigating the path back home. We walked at a slow pace trying to minimize the pain from all the injuries that were littered on our bodies. We walked in silence the closer we got to the house the more wary and cautious we were. None of us wanted to go back but again we didn't have a choice to not to.

We made it to the house in good time to make dinner and make sure everything was clean and hopefully we can get into our room tonight and they will forget we exist. As the house came into view we could see the lights on in the house which was unusual and Avery's steps faltered for a second though I think only Sawyer and I could tell that they did. We approached the house cautiously and could hear Jacob screaming inside. Avery led us through the backyard wordlessly most likely hoping we could sneak into our room without drawing attention. Tonight they wouldn't notice if they had their dinner made.

Avery slowly opens the broken backdoor and holds it open while Sawyer walks inside. Avery stops me from going in next and I roll my eyes at her over-protectiveness but I don't argue with her.

I follow Avery in and make sure to close the door quietly before looking up to see why Jacob is yelling this time. When I glance at my twins they are both tense and staring ahead I follow their gaze and Jacob is tearing through the kitchen and living room while Dianne is tied to a chair pleading with Jacob. Neither one of them notice us walking in.

Avery gets distracted and I follow her gaze to Jacob's and Dianne's bedroom door where a man lays with a blood pool around him.

"You bitch how dare you cheat on me. You are such a whore", John's words ricochet throughout the house as Dianne's pleas for him to calm down filter into the noise no one is acting to answer them. The yelling and his actions put me on edge. I know once he deals with Dianne he will turn towards us. Sawyer and Avery talking about them killing one of us overrides my mind knowing tonight maybe that night.

We watch as he stabs her over and over with a knife. I count each time he stabs her 4, 5, 8, 12, again and again. His yelling is the only thing that fills the air. I'm not sure why we aren't stopping him or trying to help but all three of us just stand there watching one of our tormentors kill another.

Slowly the police sirens begin to filter into the house and the flashing lights seem to just appear outside the windows.

Jacob doesn't notice but the three of us do and move back against the wall. The police bust in and a group head over to where Jacob is still stabbing Dianne in rage.

"Hey kids, why don't you come outside with me?" Two female cops come over to us. They probably thought they were going to be less intimidating to us but all three of us know what all humans are capable of. We've experienced it first hand.

Sawyer nods and Avery follows the policewomen back out through the back door we just walked through.

As we walk out of the backyard and light from inside the house shines down on us I see that we're covered in blood spattering. I didn't realize how close we were to Jacob.
