Quinn's POV
The library doors opened and all looked up to see Francesco sneaking in and then closing the door quietly. He then scanned the room and stopped on us, "The twins aren't in here are they?" I shook my head and he sighed and then locked the library doors, "Thank God." We all looked at him strangely and then went back to reading. "What are you guys reading?"
"Books."
"Well duh, but what books?"
"I'm reading a book about art history, Quinn is reading a book about computers, and Sawyer is reading a book about Ted Bundy." Francesco looked at Avery and then Sawyer and me.
"No wonder you three are geniuses I would be reading like a story or something."
We just shrugged, "Why are you running from the twins."
Francesco looked at Sawyer worried, "I'm not."
"You're the worst liar ever." For Avery, everyone was a bad liar but she was right from what I could see Francesco had at least five tells that he was lying so Avery could probably see double that.
"Am not."
"So what did you do?"
"Um, nothing," We all gave him a look of disbelief, "Okay okay, I might have eaten all of their ice cream."
Avery looked at him, "That's why you're hiding from them?"
"Yes, they are insane about food, well about anything, but mostly food."
"Then why did you eat it?" This whole situation was very confusing.
"Because it's ice cream," Francesco was way more dramatic than Avery has ever been.
"Got it," Yeah I still didn't get it but I kept my mouth shut.
"Let's play a game!"
"No thanks."
"Awe come on please," And like that Francesco begged us to play a game for twenty minutes before Avery finally asked him what game he wanted to play.
He beamed and then froze like a deer in headlights, "We don't have any games in here and if I go and get a game they will definitely kill me." I highly doubt they would kill him but my mind and body weren't on the same page as my heart began to speed up.
I looked around the room to find a distraction and saw the chess set, "We could play chess."
Francesco looked at us then at the chessboard, "Do you know how to play?"
"Nope," All three of us put our books up and I went and grabbed a book on how to play chess while everyone else got the board out.
Francesco seemed confused by our actions but followed along happily. We started out with Avery and Sawyer playing against one another as I read the rules and Francesco watched. Once I picked the game up I switched with Avery and beat Sawyer pretty quickly he sent me a playful glare and Francesco cheered.
"My turn!" Francesco looked hopeful to play so I switched with him to give him a chance at not losing terribly.
"You sure Francesco?" He frowned at Avery.
"Call me Cesco. I am your brother, we're family, and family calls me Cesco. And of course I am ready!" I don't think I ever met someone whose emotions fluctuate as much as Francesco's but oh well. There was something so sincere and maybe even desperate in his request for us to call him Cesco under his mock demanding tone that I don't think we could deny calling him by his nickname.
