Quinn's POV*Back at school*
Study hall was different today with Avery breaking off from us and Viktor soon following, leaving Sawyer worried but we both knew Ve could handle herself. Nik and I continued laying out a timeline of events before me and my twins were born. Something was off with what we have heard about our mother and biological family. I didn't know what but something was bothering me about the whole story we have been told. Nik seemed to feel that I felt that way or caught on to what I was doing and offered to help.
When Avery got back it was clear she was pissed off but she was also hiding pain behind it. She didn't want to talk about it and Sawyer and I wouldn't push while there were others around. Viktor didn't join us for the rest of the bell making it clear something happened between my sister and him but I would have to wait to hear what happened from Avery later.
I glanced up at Nikolai when he nudged me and he smirked at me before going back to working on his computer. I felt my cheeks heat and tried to refocus on my computer but before I could Elliott caught my eye and smiled at me with his eyes darting between Nikolai and me.
I didn't get any more work done during the bell and the next few classes seemed to blur together until I was called on and asked to run a paper up to the office. I glanced at Avery and she nodded telling me to agree. I took the papers the teacher handed to me as she turned back to teaching and left the class taking one last glance at my twins.
The office was at the front of the school and the classroom I just left was in the back. I wasn't sure why the teacher chose one of the new kids to do this considering she didn't know how well we knew the school but I didn't think too hard about it. No one was in the hallways as I walked to the office. I passed classes with teachers lecturing and students working together. I dropped the papers off and headed back towards my class.
Unlike my walk to the office on the way back the boys' bathroom door opened and Jayce walked out. It was unclear whether or not he knew me but we both froze watching one another it seemed as if neither one of us could decide what to do. After a second he began to move again, walking forward in slow steps however he kept watching me. He sped up and when his back was facing me he paused and turned, "You shouldn't be looking into all of this, just keep that in mind when you decide how to continue."
He walked off before I could reply, not that I had a reply. Not knowing what else to do I went back to class. Jayce was strange but definitely knew something about what we were doing but how and what he was referring to was still in question. His words swirled in my mind throughout the rest of our classes.
School ended and in a blur of crowded hallways brothers yelling different things we were left confused on who was taking who home. Most would think that there would be a set plan in place that we normally followed instead of figuring it out through complicated games of telephone. But that would make too much sense for our brothers it seems. Avery, Sawyer, and I split off from one another to find Aldo who seemed to be supposed to take us home; however, he wasn't answering his phone, leading us to play hide and seek with him.
I walked down one of the less busy pathways that led to the workout room behind the school knowing Alfonso was staying after school for some sports thing hoping Aldo was with him. On my way, I passed a few couples spending time together but I didn't pay them much mind until I heard a familiar voice. I turned to see Nikolai talking to a girl I recognized from my math class, Presley. I didn't stick around after seeing them and continued on my way.
I ended up finding Aldo with Alfonso and we walked the long way around school as I texted my twins where to meet. Avery gave Aldo crap for not answering his phone on the way home as Sawyer listened to a podcast blocking them out and I gave Aldo a sympathetic smile. Sawyer pulled Avery, who was in a worse mood than usual, up to our room when we got home and I followed. Sawyer didn't bother actually asking Avery what was up just waited knowing all three of us knew we would be talking about it.
