Sawyer's POV

I woke up between Quinn and Avery. Quinn was awake and reading one of our old books that Papi gave to help us learn Russian all three of us have read it countless times. Avery was still asleep, curled up next to me. I knew she was exhausted and stressed out. I wanted things to get better for us. For things to go back to when we were kids with Papi doing everything we could to make him proud. Back then Avery was more carefree and Quinn talked so much more than she did now.

Quinn smiled at me when she noticed I was awake and passed me our phone. It had a text from an unknown number. It told us to text the number when we arrive in New York so we can find someone named Dante. I raised my eyebrow at Quinn who shrugged, "The area code is from New York it could be from one of our so-called family members." She spoke quietly in French and watched to make sure she didn't wake Avery.

I nodded, "Should we text them back?" I asked in Russian because I wasn't very good at talking in French

Quinn shook her head, "I was waiting for you and Avery to wake up to decide what to do. Though Avery will probably say to ignore them." She kept to speaking French, probably because it was quieter than Russian.

I nodded agreeing with her, "How much time before Ms. Wilson comes."

Quinn glanced at the clock sitting on the bedside table, "30 minutes." She used one of our old pictures Papi took as a bookmark and closed the book. "I was going to wake you and Avery in 15 minutes so we could get ready." I nodded and she cuddled up with me after a minute she looked up at me, "Do you think Avery's plan will work?"

I shrugged, I wanted to give her hope and reassure her but I wasn't as confident as Avery was with her plan. "I don't know Quinny but whatever happens-"

"We'll stay together and always have each other's backs?" she arched an eyebrow at me when I sighed and nodded, "And you called me cliche." I just laughed quietly and shook my head knowing she was joking. She laid her head back down and I ran my hand through her hair knowing it would calm her nerves a bit.

We waited 15 minutes to wake Avery up and then the three of us got up and made sure we had everything we needed in our backpacks knowing we wouldn't be coming back to Nevada anytime soon. We also called and left a message for Julio at the junkyard giving him a small summary about what happened although in this version our mother died and our stepfather couldn't take care of so social services found some blood relatives to send us to.

After 10 minutes the social services lady, Ms. Wilson I think, knocked on our door. She was 5 minutes early but we were ready to go and after a quick greeting, we all piled into her car without much talking. The three of us all silently agreed not to talk to Ms. Wilson in case we let something slip that we didn't want her to know.

It was a long ride to the airport and Quinn passed me our phone so I could listen to a podcast knowing I would get restless with nothing to do. She then rested her head on my shoulder and I wrapped my arm around her. Avery as usual was looking out her window probably planning our great escape in more detail.

When we got to the airport I kept a hold of Quinn's hand knowing all the people here would stress her out. Avery walked a little ahead of us behind Ms. Wilson who was going to bring us through security and then make sure we get on the plane. Apparently, she believed that we were going to run, while true she had no reason to suspect us.

"Make sure you kids text your brother when you arrive. They said that they already texted you so you should have their number." Avery glanced back raising an eyebrow at us and I nodded answering her unasked question.

She rolled her eyes at me probably because we forgot to tell her and turned to Ms. Wilson. "We got the text and we will be sure to text them when we arrive." She said it sweetly more how Quinn would say it than how she usually would.

Ms. Wilson nodded and continued talking but I ignored her looking around the busy airport watching the planes out of the big windows and the different people walking and sitting around.

Security wasn't as bad as people always says it is although Ms. Wilson seemed to make it easier because she talked to all the adults for us and we just had to follow directions which we did because we did not want to cause any problems yet.

We luckily did not have to walk far or wait long at the gate for our plane and apparently our biological father bought us first-class tickets for some reason so we got to get on the plane first. I looked over everything around our seats curious to what everything was before sitting by the window with Quinn next to me and Avery next to her.

All of us listened when they gave the safety guidelines because while we don't necessarily care for our own safety we do about each other's. After a little more waiting the plane took off. Quinn quietly whispered to me how the plane's mechanics worked knowing I was interested in it all.

Avery waited for the flight attendant to leave us alone saying that they would be back late to get us food before she turned to us. "Ok when we land we need to get out of the airport quickly if they bought us first-class tickets they have money to look for us if they care enough so we have to leave fast." She spoke in Russian which got us a few weird looks but we ignored them.

"What if the biological brother that's picking us up stops us at the airport." Quinn followed Avery's lead in speaking Russian. I balled my hands into fists angry that my sister even acknowledged someone else as a brother even though

"We follow along until we can get away." Avery seemed so sure but both Quinn and I knew she feared what would happen. The three of us left our conversation at that and all three of us fell back asleep only waking up after two hours to eat the dinner that was provided for us and then all stayed up knowing we would be landing soon.
