Quinn's POVI wasn't sure what to do when Nikolai's call woke me up. It was late Avery and Sawyer were both asleep but if the phone kept ringing they wouldn't be for much longer. I sighed, picked up the phone and walked into the bathroom leaving the light off. "Nik?"
"You hacked my family?"
I yawned and rubbed my eyes, "I hacked the Russian mafia that your family is in charge of. We agreed to hack all the mafias."
"I know-" His line went silent and I sat on the bathroom floor with my back against the door waiting for him. "You saw the file."
He spoke bluntly, it was strange. "The kidnapping one?"
"Yeah."
"Why did you do that? You should've let me do it. This was none of your business!"
"I didn't read all of it," I spoke quietly my eyes watering
"You shouldn't have read any of it, hell we shouldn't even be doing any of this."
"What do you mean?" The silence between us was growing even as he yelled.
"I mean this was a stupid idea. Who cares about your mother? She left. Let it go."
"You're angry."
"Of course I'm angry you betrayed me, Quinn, when did you even read it?"
"Last night." silent tears streaked down my face.
He was silent but when he finally replied his voice was cold and distant, "Whatever I have to go."
I mess everything up.
With that, I was gone alone in the dark bathroom tears running down my face. It got hard to breathe and the numbers began to flow through my mind. 3.141592653589793238 going on and on.
At some point the world faded away, the numbers stringing along keeping steady.

Hands pulling my own from my hair pulled me out of my mind and I blinked against the harsh light taking over the room. "Quinny?"
"Sawy?"
He pulled me into his arms and lifted me off the floor. He carried me to the bed, setting me down and prying the phone from my hand. He gave the phone to Avery and she opened it as he began brushing the knots out of my hair. "What did Nik say, Winnie?"
"I messed it up- hacking - I messed it all up."
"Shh, Quinns we'll figure it out, okay."
I nodded quietly letting them take over, my brain not focusing on a single thought running through it. Avery walked into the closet with her phone as Sawyer finished with my hair and pulled me into a hug, "It'll all work out, Winnie-bear."
I nod softly not truly believing his words and he knew it however he didn't fight me as he rocked us softly whispering the same words we've used every time. It'll be okay. Words we know are lies. Words that connect to a reality we aren't a part of. But we say them anyway for a chance of hope.
When Avery came back she pulled us back to focus on school and put all the other stuff behind us. It was what she was good at leading us. Pulling us together.
Nikolai's POV
Viktor pulled me off the phone once he heard my tone. I didn't get angry often but when I did I never took it out well.
