"What do you mean you're not going to prom?!" Nena shrieked through the phone. I groaned and tossed over to the other side. I got my cast off a month ago but it still felt weird to be walking on two legs rather than one.

"I'd rather swim than go to some stupid dance," I groaned, getting out of the bed and walking down the stairs."C'mon Nena, I already graduated and it's summer in two days. There's no point going to some stupid high school dance."

"Stupid?!" she shrieked again. Luke gave me a questioning look as I rummaged through the cabinets for brownies. I really wanted a brownie. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! I can't believe you turned down Sam."

"I can't turn him down if he didn't ask," I defended myself, finding a box of cheese balls instead. These were better than brownies at the moment.

"He didn't ask?!" she shrieked. Ow, my ears. "Why don't you ask him?"

"Because I don't want to go to some stupid dance," I said for the millionth time. "I didn't even buy a dress and Marcie doesn't want to go either so-"

"Wait one second," Nena ordered, cutting the call. I breathed out a sigh in relief and found Luke sitting across from me.

"She's insane," I muttered, shoving more cheese balls in my mouth. "Are you going?"

"Going where?" he asked, munching on some cookies. Three, to be exact.

"Prom, that stupid dance," I grumbled. He nodded, which didn't surprise me because there was going to be a bunch of girls at the dance. "I have a feeling she's going to take Marcie and I dress shopping."

"Then why can't you both go hide somewhere?" he suggested. "No, actually don't. Sam would kill me."

"Where is Sam?" I curiously asked. I haven't seen him all day. Well, it was still morning and I showered only thirty minutes ago but still.

"I was ordered to not say anything or else he would feed me to the chickens," my brother read from his phone. Chickens? I wasn't aware that we had chickens.

"There aren't any chickens around," I rolled my eyes. "Just tell me or else I'll take you to an aquarium and feed you to the sharks."

"I see why you two are together," he muttered, going through the fridge to take out a cupcake. "We're low on peanut butter."

"Then go get some peanut butter," I advised. Footsteps came running towards the kitchen and I saw a messy-haired Sam running in with a giant poster behind him. Oh no.

"I thought we agreed on swimming," I groaned, crossing my arms over my chest. Luke took my cheese balls and left the kitchen, slamming the door shut, not before looking at me with mock pity.

"You can strip me tomorrow," he winked, holding up the poster. It said 'YOU'RE GOING TO PROM WITH ME' in giant letters and I huffed.

"So you're not even going to ask," I stated with a small smile. He's Sam Ryder, of course he's not going to ask.

"It's not like you could say no to this," he cockily smirked, gesturing down towards his muscular body. No, I couldn't say no to him.

"I'd gladly go with you but I don't have a dress," I shrugged, going through the fridge to take out a cupcake. "I'm sorry you wasted your time making that poster."

"And that's where Nena comes in," he grinned. I choked on my cupcake and the chocolate filling. What?

"Excuse me?" I choked out. Please don't let this be through.

"C'mon Lauren, we don't have all day!" Nena yelled, honking her car really loudly. Just to prevent her from getting arrested by the cops, I shot Sam an evil glare and a kiss on the cheek and ran upstairs to get my purse and then ran back downstairs and climbed into Nena's car. Marcie was in the back with a grumpy look on her face and arms crossed around her chest.
