"OW!" I shrieked for the tenth time. I really should have hired a professional hairstylist and makeup artist but Nena insisted that she'd do everything herself. Everything.
"Quit complaining!" Marcie groaned, lying down on the couch in her bridesmaids dress and heels. The girls settled on blue or blue and light purple gradient dresses in different styles with black heels, not that you could see them anyway.
"But she's pulling my hair," I complained. Nena was trying to do my hair in a complicated side braid and bun and had me cut the ends and get light highlights a couple days ago. I get it, I'm getting married and there's no redos. Ugh.
"I'm trying to get your tangles to cooperate," Nena huffed, finally finishing it up. I was sitting in front of the mirror in my giant dressing room that she had me install in my new house. It comes in handy sometimes.
"Well those tangles are in my hair," I pointed out, smoothing out my wedding dress. We settled with a dress that had a sweetheart neckline and lace detailing on the top and on the sleeves. Well, the sleeves were netted and expanded from my elbow to my wrist but it was pretty just as much as it was uncomfortable. There was a built in thick belt at my waist and the white dress flowed down all the way to my feet. The veil was to the side and I didn't feel like putting it on yet.
I gave my makeup a once over and turned around in my seat, looking at my bridesmaids and flower girl. I decided to have Nena, Marcie, Mila, Riley, and Colette as my bridesmaids since I've known them for years and there's no one better to do the job. I did make new friends in college and work but these girls were the ones I trusted the most.
Mila's daughter, Ximena, was the flower girl and looked absolutely adorable in her pink dress and curly brown hair. She was neatly eating a chocolate bar and had napkins next to her. Absolutely adorable.
"I booked the limo!" Bethany exclaimed, bursting the door open. She added highlights to her as well and burst out crying when I asked her to be my maid of honor. Overdramaticness runs in the family. She finished college a couple months ago and was working on a new song with Nena. The both of them were pretty popular in this town. No, in this country. Selena Gomez was going to have to pack up her autotune and leave.
"Limo?" Coco questioned. She was already in her Freshman year of high school and matured so much since the last time I saw her. She grew into her body and her blonde waves touched her waist and she was already as tall as her sister, just like how Bethany was as tall as me. "We get to ride in a limo? Okay, my life is officially complete."
"This is what happens when we have rich siblings and sister-in-laws," Riley laughed. She was a junior in college and was an inch shorter than me. The change in her and Coco will forever surprise me but they grew up to be beautiful young adults. "Is there going to be a bar inside that limo?"
"You're not twenty-one yet," Nena reminded her, running her fingers through her straight dark hair. Her makeup was perfect along with her dress and the shiny diamond on her finger was glowing. I didn't find it surprising that she and Chase were married first.
"You're no fun," Riley muttered. "When's the wedding again?"
"One and a half hours," I reminded her. Shit, I was getting married in exactly ninety minutes. Shit. "Did we forget anything? Hair, makeup, dress, shoes, what if I mess up?"
"That's impossible," Nena pointed out. "All you have to do is walk down the aisle and try not to tune out when the officiant starts talking about love and all that. All you need to remember is your vow. We practiced this."
"I remember," I shakily said. I spent hours working on my vow and saying it in front of all of Ximena's stuffed animals but I was still nervous. Holy shit, I'm getting married to Sam.
