"I'm just trying to figure out why you walked with your house, car and land Em it's a picnic not a banquet"
Riley grumbled whilst setting up the tiny table unto the large picnic blanket. He didn't even know they came in that size.
He felt like he was on Treasure Island."Oh quit whining Frost it's not that bad"
"Not that bad you have four baskets of food, an extra two with alcohol, a table, pillows and what even is this did you bring your bed sheets and a comforter?"
"Okay, I like to be thoroughly prepared"
"For what, a famine?"
"Just help me you doofus"
With a heavy sigh, he finally finished setting up the table.
They had gone to a local park, luckily not many people were around and they stuck to a slightly secluded area, but not too empty that someone could take them away.
Together the friends finished setting up everything before taking a set and kicking off their shoes.
Emily poured them each a glass of wine and Riley took it reluctantly.
"Never had alcohol before?"
"I have, just never more than a glass at most and it's usually when I'm home alone"
"Don't worry, I'm the designated driver so I can't drink much I'll be your chaperone"
"Mm, okay"
He took the first sip and savored rich taste of the red liquid.
"Wow"
"Good right"
"Very"
"I took it from daddy's wine cellar"
She whispered as though Drew would hear her from wherever he was."Did you ask him for it?"
"Nope"
With widened eyes Riley glanced at the wine glass in his hand wondering if he should really be drinking it. He hadn't even told Nikolai he was going out, now here he was drinking, somewhat stolen wine in a public park with the little minx.
Not wanting to ruin a good afternoon, he shrugged before taking another big gulp.
"Do you have anything stronger in there?"
"I have vodka and a small bottle of tequilla, but that's for later. Right now let's eat"
They ended up finishing the wine whilst having fruits and loaded turkey sandwiches.
"How are things at home?"
Riley had taken to confide in Emily only a few days after they met and she had been filled in about all his troubles with his family.
"Not good honestly, I have to go to some ball in a couple of days that my family is hosting"
"Oh, I know Drew was invited so I'll be there"
"It should be a little more tolerable now... But still you know about my, problem and my dad is basically forcing me to go"
"That's gotta be tough, thankfully I don't have family drama"
"You don't have fights with your parents?"
"Not really, I think because they aren't my biological parents they're afraid to really do that. I don't know, they're just lucky they got a good kid"
"Yeah, others would take advantage of their kindness"
Riley sighed before laying against one of the pillows."Hi there"
