"Have you taken your medication?"

Nikolai queried as he rubbed Riley's naked arms. For the past few weeks the younger had been taking more active steps to handle his social anxiety.

This included therapy sessions three days a week with the best counselor Nikolai could find and being placed on new anti anxiety medication.

He wasn't cured, but being in public wasn't as much of a hassle as before. He had no choice as the plan that they set in motion needed him to be out more.

"Yes, don't worry I'll be fine"

"You look beautiful, did I tell you that?"
The older smiled after giving his lover another once over.

Riley was clad in a white, long sleeved off the shoulder cocktail dress with thin, silver straps as decoration and matching white heels.

"Yes you did, but thank you again"

They were heading to a cocktail party that was being hosted by one of Nikolai's associates. This event was held annually and allowed selected paparazzi and other journalists to gain entry to record they way in which the rich and wealthy lived.

Those with money always wanted to flaunt it to those without.

This also allowed people in the upper circles to mingle and form connections with each other and profit from their capitalism.

In short, the rich plotting ways to become even more rich from other wealthy individuals.

Normally Nikolai wouldn't be caught dead at a place like this and the invitation would be placed in the fireplace along with the rest, but if seeing them together drove Rachel even crazier than she already was, they hoped the bitch would be angered to the point of losing the rest of her sanity.

Today they were going to put on a show, one big enough to have her pulling each strand of that mass of red from her head.

Smiling Riley ran his hand along the buttons of the white, tieless suit Nikolai wore that went well with his back slacks.

"Worried?"

"Nope, it's just we've allowed the reporter to follow us everywhere for the past week dinner, the zoo, the theater even to the salon, but Rachel has yet to make a move"

Nikolai had spoken to a journalist whom he trusted and allowed the man to follow them out on dates and everyday activities in order to stir up Rachel and get her to crawl out of whatever hole she had gone into.

After the day that James and Jon came to see them Rachel had gone into hiding. As such they decided that her need to possess Nikolai and punish those who did would become irresistible.

"Well, let's just hope today will be the last"

With a nod Riley checked his hair in the mirror, he had liked it long but decided that the chin length was his signature. Now he styled it with a simple pearl clip that matched his shoes and natural makeup.

After grabbing his purse that was filled with the necessities they walked out the front door and into the awaiting car hand in hand.

"Thank you so much for coming"

Nikolai hesitantly grasped the man's outstretched hand and gave a firm shake.

William Kennedy a business tycoon and today's host was a sleezy millionaire who would never let anyone forget that he was a very distant cousin of a certain past president.

Not that anyone in the world gave a damn, but he surely thought they did.

He hosted this cocktail party every year and it was dubbed one of the biggest events of the season, only coming second to the Frost family's annual ball which was something he was forever bitter about, but said nothing as making enemies with the Frosts' was not something anyone wished to do.
