Riley sighed heavily as his mother pulled out yet another dress. He liked shopping, but sometimes his mother went overboard.
"Mama, this is getting out of hand"
"Nonsense-"
"I'm serious, I actually want to be very simple for this one"
"Riley you haven't attended on of these balls in three years, simple is the last thing on my mind"
"Well it's the first on mine"
He held his ground and with a proud smile Marissa held up her hands in defeat.
"Fine, fine, but only because you look so cute when you're serious"
"What's the theme this year?"
"Black Tie: Red Carpet"
"Okay... Maybe I can add a little flare, but not too much"
Marissa squealed before going back to the dress she had been looking at before.
Riley allowed his eyes to wonder around the store, tuning out the sound of his mother's mumblings. Soon his mind wandered to the day before.
A bright blush coated his cheeks and he brought his fingers up to brush against his still slightly bruised lips.
After their session Nikolai had of course administered aftercare for him, then they had dinner and spent the night making out like lovesick teens whilst watching movies.
It was incredible.
Sadly he had to go back home in the morning, which is how he ended up shopping for his dress with Marissa.
"-iley? Riley?! Earth to Riley!"
He finally snapped out of his thoughts to see his mother waving her hands in fron of his face.
"Y-yeah what?"
"I'm guessing things are going well with Nikolai"
His flushed even more.
"What are you talking about?"
"You've had this dreamy look on your face ever since you got back. You didn't even call me when you landed yesterday"
"I'm sorry, I got distracted Nikolai's family was at his house when we got back an-"
"Wait, wait, wait you've already met his parents?"
"Yeah"
"Tell me everything, were they nice to you? I met Mrs. Cirillo once she's almost as intimidating as her son"
"It was fine, they were really good to me. They didn't even bring up my clothes or anything"
"That's great, tell me more"
He recounted the meeting in detail to his mother and by the end she was squealing in excitement.
"I'm so happy for you Riley, it's a good thing I invited them to the ball tomorrow, I can give them a proper welcome to the family"
"Mama, don't get carried away we've barely hit the two month mark"
"Honey let me tell you something, there is no time stamp for love. Some will feel it within days of knowing each other, for others it could take months even years but that doesn't mean that the ones who find it quickly don't love each other as hard as those who take a longer time.
And that's because each day love can either grow stronger or it can fade away. You might learn new things and fall deeper and deeper as you go along. So don't listen to what anyone else says. If you love each other and you're sure that you do then hold unto that and don't let go"
