You sat there, your eyes wandering the dining room. Soda and you have been going steady for about 4 months, and tonight he said he had something big planned. You weren't sure what it was, and you sure weren't ready either. You and Soda had been talking for the past few minutes after he had told you to take a seat at the dinner table, when you see Ponyboy come out from the kitchen holding a plate of toast. "Good evening, how're you guys on this beautiful night?" You couldn't help but giggle at his effort, given he was all dressed up too. "fantastic, now you head back in there and help Darry out" Ponyboy set the plate down, took a bow, and left.

You clap as he walked away to help in the kitchen, while Soda stares at you, smiling. "what?" You ask, but he just kept smiling. Your face turns a light pink and he grabs ahold of your hands. "what is it??" You ask a little bit too excited. Now both of you were a smiling mess, along with tons of blushing and laughter in the mix. "what's goin on in there, lovebirds?" Sodapop tightened his grip on your hands as he smiled at you once more. "nothin, Dar, why's the food taking so long, I'm starving!" You and Soda were dying of laughter like a couple of little kids, while Darry walked out of the kitchen and set down a plate of steak. "next time you try and rush me you won't be gettin anything" He smiled at you and went back to the kitchen. "thanks darry!" Soda yelled, sending you a wink right afterwards.

You and Soda were enjoying your meal when you hear the front door swing open. "do I smell- steak?" You hear a familiar voice shout. Soda looked to you, then the door, "i told you guys that me and y/n were having a date tonight!! what do ya think you're doing here?" Steve, Two-Bit and Johnny all look at each other speechless. "well- ya see soda- we- well-" Steve started, "we were bored and we wanted to... see
y/n?" The room was quiet for a split second until you started silently laughing. Soda looked at you and then the guys, in which he caught on soon. "alright you guys, cut it out, the steak is on the table" Steve and Two smile and instantly run past you and to the food. Johnny stayed behind and apologized for all three of them. "it's fine, Johnnycakes, go eat" he smiled and walked over to the other two, who were now joined by Darry and Pony.

It was just you and Sodapop in the living room now, standing hand in hand. You were about to lean your head on his shoulder when he turned to face you. Your heart skipped a beat when you two were now face-to-face, only inches apart.

"Y/n.."

"yes, soda?"

He was now looking you in the eyes, making sure you knew he was serious.

"i love you"

There was only a second of silence, but the feeling was still there.

"I love you too,"

His face instantly lit up with his signature smile.

"I've been waitin to hear you say that"

The gap between you two was soon closed by your lips connecting in a small, yet passionate, kiss.
