"y'all ready for breakfast?" I hop out of my seat and run to the dining room, making sure I get to the table first. I had to be sure I got there first, or else Steve would be eating breakfast for the both of us. He was always teasing me and Pony. Except it wasn't necessarily "teasing" as much as it was him just being a dick. I was a year older than Pony, but that didn't stop him. "blue! Nice choice, Soda" I plate a spoonful of colored scrambled eggs onto my dish and leave the rest for the gang to fight over. "where's Darry?" Steve asks with a mouthful of food. "he had to leave early for work, there's this big promotion he's workin' extra hard for" Soda says, pouring a glass of orange juice for himself, "he won't be back home 'til real late tonight" I smirk at the end of his sentence.
                              Perfect.
I finished my breakfast and went to my room to change, eager for tonight's events. I wasn't dressing up or anything like that, hell, I wore an old pair of ripped jeans that still had a small blood stain on them from last week. It's not a long story, Pony and I were trying to escape some Socs, and I was the unlucky one who fell right into their arms, literally. I tripped and their leader, Bob, caught me before allowing me to fall to the ground. I slip into a comfortable, bright red tank top, throwing my leather jacket on over it. I sure did look tuff. I run a brush through my Y/H/L, Y/H/C hair and make my way downstairs.
I take a seat next to Johnny and rest my head on his shoulder. "is this okay?" I whisper. He looks down at me and smiles, "yeah". I turn my attention back to the T.V, and to my surprise, we weren't watching Mickey. "where's Two?" "he had to go check on his little sister" I nod my head and mumble a quiet "oh". I was close to falling asleep, for the first time in history, the house was quiet. I could only hear the faint sound of the T.V and Dally's snoring. My knee was bouncing up and down as several thoughts suddenly cross my mind. How was I going to leave tonight? What if Darry got back early? What if I lose the keys to the car? Will Soda let me? My anxiety was eating me alive as I soon drifted off into a deep sleep.
                              -time skip-
I open my eyes and shoot up, scanning the room, semi-aware of my surroundings. The room was lit by the orange and yellow of the sky shining through the window. I must've taken my jacket off, because it was now on the floor. Picking it up, I feel in the pocket and pull out my watch. 7:52. I still had about a half an hour or so before I had to be ready at the starting line. I looked around for everyone, but no one was home. I walked into the kitchen and found a note sitting on the counter.
                              Dear Y/N,
How'd you sleep? We were gonna wake you up, but figured you could use the sleep, hope you had a good nap! Two-bit came back from his place and said there was something going on at the diner, so we figured we could get some dinner and shakes! We shouldn't be there too long, but if we're not home when you wake up, walk on over here and you can grab a bite.
                              Love you!
Coca-Cola, Mickey, Johnnycakes, Horseman, Texas, and Steve
I smile at the note and fold it up, putting it in my pocket. I walk to the front door and quickly tie my shoes, soon rushing out of the house and on my way to the diner. I hadn't eaten anything besides eggs today, so I was desperate for some food. After a couple more minutes of running, I put my hands on my knees and catch my breath before opening the door and walking into the Dingo. "there she is!" I hear coming from the corner of the crowded restaurant. It was much busier than usual, I bumped into at least 3 people trying to reach the gang. "heya, Y/N, ya hungry? We got plenty of food here." Soda offers me a seat next to him and I gladly take it, immediately eating a few fries off of his plate after. "you sleep well? You were out like a light!" Two-bit laughs, taking a sip of his drink concealed in a paper bag. "yeah.." I mumble, more focused on my food than the conversation. "Soda, you got that race tonight or what, man?" My heart skipped a beat.
