I tap my shoe and hum the familiar tune.  "drink?" the waiter asks me. "a Pepsi, please" He nods and walks to the kitchen. I rest my head on my hand, looking out at the sunset through the window. "your drink, ma'am" I nod my head and thank him. "are you waiting on anyone, or can I borrow this chair for table 6?" I sigh and check my watch, "you can take it". He smiles and carries the chair away to a table full of people. Now I was stuck sitting here alone, listening to the sounds of conversation and laughter all around me.

Thanks a lot, Tim.

I grab my wallet and leave some change for the Pepsi, along with some cash for a tip. I throw my purse over my shoulder and walk out of the Dingo. I get in my car and start the engine. Maybe I would stop by the drive-in and see if he was there with an explanation, but I decided it'd be best just to drive home and sleep it off. I'll find him and talk to him tomorrow.

I unlock the front door and slam it behind me. I rush to my bedroom and change into some shorts and an old t-shirt. So much for getting dressed up and putting nice makeup on. I open my door and am greeted by my mom. "hey, hon, how'd the date go?" I groan and walk to the bathroom as she follows close behind. "he didn't show" I say before splashing water on my face. "oh, honey.. I'm so sorry", she gives me a sad smile, in which I return. "it's fine, mom, I'm fine". I dry my face with a nearby towel and look up at her. "we both know that's a lie, but I won't bug you anymore" she gives me a quick kiss on the forehand, "there's ice cream in the freezer". She walks upstairs and to her room. "thank you!" I yell.

I was about to treat myself when I heard a knock at the door. Without thinking, I go to open the door and am greeted by the last person I expected to see. "Dal?" He leans up against the doorframe. "can I come in?" I cross my arms, "why?" "I dunno, I just want to talk to you". I think about it for a second before opening the door all the way for him to come in. He walks past me and straight to the couch.

"w- what did you wanna say?" He motions for me to sit next to him, so I do, and he begins. "I saw ya at the Dingo tonight" he pauses, "didn't you say you were supposed to meet someone?" I look down at my feet. "yeah, well, he never showed" He chuckled and looked away, "man, I told ya". "told me what?". "Tim, man, he ain't what you're lookin for" I roll my eyes, "so what am I lookin for exactly?" He turns back to me with a cocky smile. "someone who can treat you right" he licked his lips, "someone who can give you what you need". I felt my face get hot and I looked away. "am I wrong?" He asked. "well... no.." I face him again. "but how am I gonna find anyone who can do that?", I smirk. "I'm sittin right here baby".

Before I could respond he had crashed his lips onto mine. He holds my waist and pulls me closer, slipping his tongue into my mouth. Our lips don't part until I move my hands to his chest and slowly push him away. He gives me a funny look as I look past him. "hey, hon, is this Tim?" Dallas turns around and his face goes blank. "n-no, mom, this is Dallas" I say, trying to hold back my laughter. She only smiles and gives me a look of approval before walking into her room. Dallas turns back to me, still a little shocked. I burst out into laughter, "you shoulda seen your face!" He stands up, "man, I look nothin like Tim" I sigh and stand up with him. "you're right, you're much more good-looking". He puts an arm around me and tilts my chin up to face him, "he has no idea what he's missing", and with that he leaned down and placed a small kiss on my lips.
