I throw the tennis ball against the wall repeatedly, "Y/L/N! Knock it off!" I groan and catch it, now tossing it into the air. "sorry, Mary" "that's Officer Lee, to you" I laugh, "whatever..". I had only been in here a couple of days and she was already tired of me. I'm not surprised, though, this wasn't my first time being in the cooler. Last time I got into some trouble with Dallas, but this time was different. This time there was just me to blame.

"Y/F/N Y/L/N! You're free to leave." I catch the ball and toss it on the ground, "thank you, it's been good seeing you, Mary!" She only rolls her eyes, "I'm sure I'll be seeing you again soon!" I walk out to the waiting area and am greeted by the last person I wanted to see. "hey, Dal.." He grabs my arm and drags me out of the station. We reach his car and I sit down in the passenger seat. He slams his car door and turns to me, "what the hell were you thinkin?" "I- well I-" he cuts me off, "you coulda been killed! You're lucky the feds showed up!" I hang my head and guilt washes over me. "I'm sorry, I wasn't thinkin" He rests his head on the steering wheel. "damn it, Y/N, what'd you do?" A small smirk creeps on my face, "I was gettin even with those Socs who messed with Pony and Johnny"

I see him chuckle to himself before sitting up and starting the car. "just- just have one of the gang with ya next time you decide to pull somethin like that, alright?" I lean back in my seat and let out a sigh of relief, "alright". We didn't talk the rest of the time, just enjoyed the silence. "am I droppin you off at your house or are we headed to the drive-in?" I nod my head, "I think you know the answer to that".

I look out the car window and watch the sunset. I knew Pony would like it, he lives for that kind of special crap. Dallas parks the car and we run over to the fence, successfully sneaking underneath it and making our way to the concessions. "wanna coke?" I nod my head and wait in line with him. "one coke" "you don't want one?" I ask. "we can share" he smirks. I turn a light pink and smile, "fine, but no getting lipstick on the straw" I say, grabbing the soda from him. He shoots me a look and hits my arm as I laugh. I shudder as we walk towards a row of empty seats. "man, it's chilly out" "why didn't you bring a jacket, stupid?" I scoff and take a sip from my drink. So much for being a gentleman.

"man, I don't wanna sit here" he plops down in one of the chairs. "well where do you wanna sit?" I ask. "not here" He grabs my hand and pulls me towards an empty car. "Dallas! This is someone's car! Someone's mustang." I scold him. He only chuckles and opens the door for me, "cmon, doll, it's better than sittin out in the cold isn't it?" I sigh and slide into the front seat. "man, this is real nice, must belong to some really preppy Soc" he runs his hands along the seats and admires the dashboard. I sit there with my jaw dropped, "you've gotta be kidding me" I take a long look at the picture inside the compartment box. "shit" I mumble. "what?" I pull out the photo of Cherry Valance and her boyfriend, Bob, sitting on the football bleachers together. "this is his car"

I quickly put the picture back where it was and shut the box. "Dal, I don't like this, can we leave?" I beg. He shakes his head and scoots closer, putting his arm around me. "let's just enjoy the movie, alright?" I sigh and take another long sip of my coke. Maybe he was right, the worst that could happen was that Bob would see us and get us thrown in the cooler. At least we'd be together, though, right?

I was about to lay my head on Dal's shoulder when I heard a weird growling-like noise. I look up to find Dallas snoring through the movie. "Dallas Winston, wake up!" I flicked his nose and he jumped. "Jesus Christ!" He grabbed the coke from my hands and drank the rest of it, "what's your problem?" I laugh, "you were just sleeping! Not to mention your snoring!" I had trouble holding in my laughter. "you shoulda-" "what the hell?!" I hear from behind me. I quickly turn around to find a very drunk Bob and Randy eyeing me through the window. "I-" Before I could make up an excuse, Dallas had opened the car door and grabbed my hand, sprinting away from the car.

We reached the fence and Dallas quickly went under,  helping me after, only for my top to get snagged. "crap" I mutter. I tug on it, but it doesn't do any good. "here," he says, leaning over and lifting up part of the loose fence. I crawl out from underneath it and get up. "thanks" I say. He hums in response and intertwines his hand with mine. "I don't think they're following us, Dal" I was going to pull my hand away, but he only held it tighter. "I know"

We approach the car and get inside, Dallas immediately starting the car and driving off. "where to now?" He chuckles, "you're goin straight home, don't need you gettin into anymore trouble today". I groan and put my feet up on the dashboard. "you're no fun."

He pulls into the driveway and I prepare myself for a lecture from my mom. "see ya tomorrow, Dal" I say, stepping out of the car and walking to the front door. I hear his door slam and footsteps from behind me. I turn around to face him and smile. He embraces me in a tight hug, holding me in his arms as I wrap mine around his neck. He pulls away and plants a soft kiss on my lips.

"goodnight" I whisper.

"night"
