The next few days passed without a hitch, and no one saw the three girls. There were rumors that they had been fired. It wasn't bad that way. Nanaya was stopped more than once in the hallways by upper class students thanking him. He who had always hoped to remain discreet as much as he could, he was now at the center of the discussions, always surrounded at every break. Even the other two schools had heard of the case that made him a hero. When Mineko, Rena or Kenji saw him too uncomfortably in a crowd, they would hasten to pull their comrades away or even drag Nanaya aside. No one expected such an eventful start to the year.

On this Friday, from the first hour, the new students of Aitori had descended into the courtyard. Nanaya had totally noticed that everyone who didn't have lessons, no matter what school, had stepped out of the windows to look around while staying safe inside. He thought he saw Kotaro on Darkeas's floor, but when he looked again there were only students he didn't know.

They were going to discover their power and their outfit. As some magic could be dangerous in inexperienced hands, teachers preferred to do this exercise for a whole day, outdoors. And the yard was more than large enough to limit the damage.

Unlike getting the guardians, the story of which had made most of the girls in the class doubtful, this time around they were all particularly impatient. Rena even went first. After receiving her magical girl name, the transformation went smoothly despite her lack of voice. Nanaya was reassured to see that not all outfits had frills and laces. Rena's had none. A pretty dress, accompanied by a chaperone, all in shades of green and turquoise. A chameleon tail had also appeared. She had a hard time controlling this animal attribute though, and the tail seemed to curl itself around her leg, as if with a will of its own.

Her turn was not over, however. She must now know her power. But no matter how hard Reizo tried to explain it to her, his chameleon appearance prevented his human from reading his lips. He glanced pleadingly at Nanaya who sighed and stepped forward to translate into sign language.

"It's a very simple power." Reizo asserted as he watched Nanaya sign at the same time. "She can take on the color and texture of whatever she touches at will. Let her try ... hm ... the bench. She just has to try it with the bench. "

The boy told his comrade everything. She looked at her hands for a moment, then walked over to one of the benches. When she put her hands on it, nothing happened. Reizo flew up to her and gave her signs of slow breaths to make her relax. He asked Nanaya for help again. Who explained in a sign, at the chameleon's request, that she should not force. She just had to look at the bench, its color and texture. Relax and pretend she always does that.

After several unsuccessful attempts, she succeeded. Her body then seemed to be made of wood. Even to the touch, her skin was rough. The clothes shaped by her transformation had changed along with her. The class began to applaud, although stopped by Nanaya. Rena couldn't hear. they had to applaud in sign language. A simple gesture. Raise their hands to head height and wave them. The young girl almost had tears in her eyes when she saw all her comrades reproducing this gesture to congratulate her.

Nanaya was distracted from the performances of his other comrades by the movements in the windows. As if all the students were watching the exercise. He was sure he had seen a few teachers there as well. Phen-X stood behind the glass door to the hall, no doubt ready to intervene if the slightest injury occurred. When Nanaya looked up to an open upstairs window, Kenji waved at him, smiling. Did no one have class?

In two hours, only three of his comrades had passed, time to achieve the transformation and control the power. The young man couldn't help but wonder what his would be. The guardians did not answer the questions. Hyokko had told him it was more of a surprise than a rule.
