Chapter 17

By that sunny July weekend, most of the students at the complex had been given special permission.

The summer camp was advertised for the first week of the following month for the duration of August. The S.D.A. had booked an entire hotel by the sea to offer their students a month's vacation. What was usually reserved for a training camp, changed, for this year, into relaxation. The students were doing well and only a tiny handful of them had failed the end of term exam. Starlight, Shadow and Bunny had deemed it deserved. In addition, the less fortunate young people could enjoy a luxury trip, with several activities planned. The three principals did not hesitate to thank Nanaya for allowing them to offer this to their schools.

It was with this idea that the students were given permission to travel to town for the weekend, at least until curfew time. So that they buy what they need for the trip. Towels, beach clothes, civilian swimsuits rather than school swimsuits, sunscreen and accessories if they wanted. However, it was a rule of thumb to go in groups and accompanied by a teacher, to make sure that they did not take too much advantage of the outing to break the rules.

Nanaya was not very excited about the trip. He had never seen the sea and didn't particularly want to. But Mineko and Rena had managed to convince him to accompany them to the mall anyway, with Kenji of course. After lunch, they had made their way to the hospital wing to ask Phen-X to accompany them, but he had already left with another group.

"I'm telling you you can't go alone." Growled a voice from the hall. "In groups, only."

The angry student who replied in a vulgar manner and in a very loud voice left no doubt as to his identity. It was Kotaro. He was slow to prepare and the twins had left with other comrades.

"As long as I'm accompanied, there's nothing to complain about!" Growled Kotaro.

"Do you think we are in unlimited numbers?" Sighed the professor. "If you are asked to be in groups, it is not for nothing. And why me? I'm not even your teacher."

"Everyone from Darkeas is already gone! "

They walked into the hall to find it was Fishy. Like all the other teachers, and the students, for that day, he was dressed in civilian clothes. Although his decoys made him totally recognizable.

"Fishy-sensei!" Kenji called. "Already have a group?"

"No." Assured the adult. "If you want me to accompany you ..."

"What about me ?!" Growled Kotaro.

"Come with us, Kot-chan." Nanaya proposed. 

Kenji winced, unsure of what that could be. Kotaro clenched his fists, mentally searching for why he would refuse, but finding none.

" It's not a bad idea." The professor observed. "Shime-san, I don't think you will have a better proposal since all of your comrades are already gone."

"Fine!" Growled the concerned. "I do not have a choice ! "

Fishy sighed in annoyance. In his eyes, this student was perfectly in his place in Darkeas.

So he accompanied the small group to the bus that took them to the city's shopping center. A huge shopping arcade bringing together all types of stores. They could see some of their comrades, already bags in their hands. Mineko and Rena quickly took over the direction of the clothing store, taking their classmates and the teacher with them.

The summer section was well stocked with a huge selection of different swimsuits. Rena spotted one almost immediately after entering.

Kenji noticed that Nanaya wasn't even looking. He just seemed to be waiting for the others to finish.
