Nakamara didn't bother to knock and walked through the door. The baby was sleeping peacefully, while his older brother sat on the floor, right next to the bed, his knees drawn against his chest.

"What ?" The teen mumbled.

"Nothing." The adult replied. "I'm just coming to see if Kemori is okay."

He walked over to the bed and leaned over to see the little one sleeping peacefully, his chest heaving slowly as he breathed. He gave a tender smile and turned to the young man.

Kotaro wasn't looking at him, just sitting there deep in thought. The adult sighed and walked over to sit next to him, receiving a surprised and accusing look from the younger.

"What are you doing ?" Kotaro growled.

"I'm a bit tired." Lied Nakamara. "And I missed the smell of babies."

The teenager didn't answer and looked away. They remained in silence for a long time.

"You know, picking on others is not going to make you feel better," the adult said suddenly, "it might even make things worse."

"Tch! You speak as if you know!"

"... My older brother was the most important person in my life. I was ten when I lost him. One day he was there, taking the time to help me tinker with a robot despite preparing for his entrance exam at Darkeas, and the next day he was gone. It happened suddenly and I didn't even have a chance to say goodbye to him. My parents preferred to leave me out, so it was Thoki who bore the brunt of my temper tantrums."

"Are you going to tell me I'm lucky because I got to see them one last time ?!"

"I never intended to. I was going to tell you not to make my mistake. It's okay to blame the whole world, but it's pointless."

"I don't blame the whole world..."

"... It's okay to blame yourself too. But others don't deserve to pay the price. They are not responsible and they are just there to help, support you. There is no shame in crying in front of your friends, that's what they are there for."

"That stupid shark is not my friend !!"

"You don't see him that way. However, he had planned to visit his twin's grave today. But when he heard that his mother was coming here, you turned out to be more important than his brother."

"As if he had come for me."

"I can't make you believe he cares about you. But the first thing he asked when he walked in here was where you were."

Kotaro glanced at the adult, unable to find an answer. Nakamara gave him a sympathetic smile and finally stood up, indicating that Kenji was staying for the weekend anyway, before finally leaving the room. He didn't bother to add more as he vaguely heard the teen mumble behind him.

The adult walked down the steps with a sigh. Thoki had just finished unloading the car and left to collect Kenji's medicine. Nakamara glanced around the living room. He never thought he would ever be so relieved to see his son doing a normal activity, like any boy his age. Even though he was clearly not good at video games and still struggled to show his emotions naturally, he seemed to be having a good time.

"Lost again." Nanaya muttered in an adorable pout.

"Sixth of eleven," Kenji corrected, "you're improving. At the next race, I'm sure you could move up to fifth."

"I forbid you to let me win."

"No questions!"

The redhead laughed as he restarted a game. The adult smirked and moved away from the door to join the desk. He still had work to do.
