I snap out of my dazed state when the car stops and I'm pulled back into reality. I look out my window at the tall black gates surrounding the graveyard.

"We're here." Garret whispers and sticks the keys in his pocket. I take my time in finding my door handle and opening it.

I leisurely get out and wait for Garret to walk around the car. He puts his arm around my waist as we approach the gates.

"Macie! Garret!" Paul's voice shouts from behind us.

We stop to let our friends catch up to us. Garret removes his hand from me as we turn around to face the trio.

"Hey." I half smile and walk into Danny for a hug.

He wraps his arms around me, enclosing me in his embrace. I breathe in the familiar smell of his cologne, which I have grown to use as a calming mechanism. It reminds me of all the happy memories we've already made in such a short time together.

"Let's go meet with the others." Garret announces as I pull away from Danny.

He grabs my hand, intertwining our fingers, and we all walk together to the large group of others who are already gathered around the area where my parents are to be buried.

Aidan, Coulter and Sam are all sitting together in the second row together with a few empty seats beside them. The five of us claim the row ahead where I sit between Garret and Danny.

"Alright. Here we go." Tamil shakes away her anxiety and begins to talk. Tyler and Brian both stand at the front alongside her, ready to comfort her when necessary. "Ladies and gentlemen..."

...

"May they rest in peace." Brian finishes. Tamil signals for Garret and I to come up to the front.

I quickly attempt to wipe away the extreme amount of tears from under my eyes and do so.

"Would you like to say one last goodbye?" Tamils asks. I nod my head and walk over to the two coffins containing my parents. I grab one of each other their cold, lifeless hands and begin my quiet speech, so that the conversation is only between the three of us.

"Mom, dad..." I begin, tears running down my face again. "Thank you so much for being the most amazing parents I could ever ask for. As bratty and stubborn of a child as I may have been, you guys always put up with me, and stuck with me through everything. I love you both so much, and just because you're not going to be here physically anymore, that will never change. Thank you for all the wonderful memories you've given me and for helping me to become the person I am today. I will always cherish the time we had together.

You've both taught me so much. How to be strong, caring, understanding, so many things, and I'm going to miss you so much. I wish you were still here. I promise that I will always try my best at everything I do. I love you both with all my heart and just because you're no longer living or breathing, that doesn't mean that you will ever stop being my parents, and I will never stop being your daughter. I will make you proud." I lean down to kiss them both on the cheeks.

I wipe my face and smile at them one last time. I imagine this goodbye to be like one of the business trips they usually went on, only this time they would be gone for quite a while.

"Goodbye." I wave and turn around. I run into Garret who stands a few feet behind me and wrap my arms around him.

"Did you say everything you wanted to say?" He asks.

"Yes."

"Good." He strokes my hair before gently pulling out of the hug. "I'm gonna go say bye." A tear slides down his cheek and I nod, letting him go.

I walk back over to where we were sitting and nervously take my seat as Danny's arm snakes around my shoulders and pulls me into him. I wrap my arms around his torso and sob.

There's so many thing that I wanted my parents to be here for. Who's going cry at my high school graduation? Who's going to brag to their friends at work about their kids going off to college? Who's going to love and accept me, despite whatever happens?

I look up to see Garret walking back over. He sits down and rests his hand on my leg as we watch our parents coffins being lowered into the ground.

"Goodbye. I love you." I whisper as they disappear into the cold, dark earth.

"Macie dear?" Tamil speaks.

I remove my head from Danny's chest to look at her. Garret has disappeared from my side and everyone has shifted from their spots since the last time I looked.

"There's some people who want to say bye to you." She smiles sweetly.

"Alright." I slowly remove my arms from around Danny and stand up, following Tamil to a group of people, including my brother.

"I don't really know. I guess." Garret tells the tall, slim man who's standing next to him.

"Well, call me if you need a job. I'm sure I can find you something." He pats Garret's shoulder.

"Okay. Thanks." He nods before realizing my presence and noticeably sighing with relief.

The man walks away as Garret wraps his arm around my torso.

"What was that about?" I ask.

"That was Jeremy. He was talking about how 'In order to support ourselves, we'll need to get jobs.'" Garret mocks the mans deep voice.

"Oh." Is all I say. I had completely forgotten about the relevance of money.

"Macie, Garret..." A group of women interrupt our conversation. I don't mind though, I don't want to talk about money right now.

More and more people approach us after the group of ladies.

"Once again, I am so sorry." A proper young man bows his head and gives us a soft, meaningful look before walking away.

"I think that was the last one." Garret whispers.

"Hopefully. I just want to go home." I sigh.

"Me too." I look around for Tamil to ask if we can leave yet. I spot her next to Tyler's bright pink hair, sitting with our friends.

Oh no.

She's talking to Danny.

Garret, noticing it at the same time, grabs my hand and runs over to where they are.

"Listen, if you ever hurt her, I will hurt you so bad, understand?" Tamil threatens Danny in a dark, quiet tone.

"Tammy!?" I yell. She instantly backs away with a playful smile on her face. "What the fuck?"

"Just kindly informing him, you know." She pats the tops of Danny's head. I can't help but laugh at how awkward Danny looks right now.

"Don't worry. I uh, I won't do anything." Danny timidly replies.

"That's what I like to hear." Tamil smiles.

"Oh my god..." I roll my eyes.

"Can we head home yet?" Garret asks. Tamil looks around to see the pretty much empty surroundings.

"Ya, you kids head home. You've had a long day. We'll come check up on you later."

"K thanks. See you guys later then." I wave as Garret and I separate from the crowd. He unlocks the doors when we get close to the car.

"What did you tell mom and dad?" Garret breaks the silence as we both sit down.

"A lot of things. I said I was gonna make then proud." I half smile. "What about you?"

"I said I'd always be here for you no matter what." He turns the keys in the ignition and looks at me. I don't say anything, I just reach over and hug him.

"Thank you." I whisper.

"What can I say. We're Amigas Cheetahs, friends for life." He says and we both laugh.

"I love you so much GareBear."

"I love you a shit ton Macie."
