Chapter 60

MACIES POV

Spring break goes by quickly and I soon find myself wondering how Monday came so fast. Yesterday was officially a week since Danny and I got back together. We still haven't told the rest of our squad because we both agreed that we should wait a few days to make sure things are off to a good start to tell them. He texted me last night and we decided that we're going to announce it after school today.

"Macie! Tyler's here!" Garret shouts from downstairs. My heart skips a beat and I spring up from my bed, grabbing my phone and backpack. I'm going in to record a song this morning.

I take one last look at myself in the mirror to make sure I look okay. I want to impress the people who run the company. My black skirt and loose white tank top with a rose in the middle of it, go nicely with the black flats and golden accessories I put on. I open my door, but stop abruptly and turn to my jewelry box. I slowly pull out the top drawer and grab the thin black bracelet that I made to match the one I gave to Danny. I haven't worn it since our breakup and I think it's about time to that changed. I slide on the bracelet and smile at the warm, comforting feeling it brings.

"Macie, hurry up!" Garret yells again.

"I'm coming!" I holler back. I dash out the door and down the stairs to see Tyler standing in a suit in the living room.

"You ready to go?" He smiles, clapping his hands together.

"Yes! I'm so excited!" I approach him and turn to Garret. "Bye GareBear!"

"Bye May! You're gonna do great!" I wave one last time and step outside. The feeling in my stomach reminds me of the same excited/scared feeling I got when I was a kid heading to my first overnight summer camp.

"So what's your song called?" Tyler asks as he starts the car.

"Still here."

"What's it about?"

"I wrote it about everything that's happened. With moving, my parents, Danny, you know, just everything."

"Well, I can't wait to hear it!" Tyler squeals as we pull up to a red light. He quickly looks at himself in the mirror and fixes his hair as the light turns green.

"Do you think they'll like me?" I ask nervously, crossing my hands in my lap. My biggest worry is that they're going to hate me and cancel everything.

"Of course they're going to like you Macie. It's almost impossible to not like you!"

"Thanks Ty." I smile. The nervous feeling in my stomach is still incredibly present, but I do my best to swallow my excitement. After another few minutes of anxious driving, we pull up in a clean, new looking parking lot and park in a spot with a sign reading 'Tyler Fey'. I hop out of the car and gently shut the door. Tyler locks it and walks up next to me, grabbing my arm.

"C'mon! Let's go!" He squeals. I take a deep breath in and follow him inside.

The dark red and black decorations on the inside of the building are very professional looking. I can't seem to take my eyes off the scenery until Tyler pulls me into an elevator and hits the 4 button. With each floor that passes, I feel myself growing more and more anxious. The door pings and opens to reveal a large polished black wooden desk, where a young lady stands in a dark blue jacket and skirt.

"Hey Tyler! And you must be Macie!" She smiles and reaches her hand out to me. I shake it and return the grin. "I've heard amazing things about you! You're a wonderful singer!"

"Thanks!" I accept the compliment as casual as possible, while on the inside I'm freaking out.

"I'm Tina by the way. Here, let me show you to the studio." She walks around the desk and gestures for me to follow her.
