DANNYS POV

"Someone should go check on Macie." Garret pushes his hair back with his hand and stands up. He sits down on a stool and Paul and Teala sit next to him. Teala wraps her arm around him and leans her head on his shoulder.

"I'll go." I volunteer. Garret nods at me and I half smile at him before turning to go up the stairs. I've never seen Macie looking so... so... broken. She's always been the one to cheer everyone up when they're down, I don't even think I've ever even seen her sad before.

A faint, but still blood curdling scream hits my ears causing me to sprint up the stairs as fast as my legs will take me. I run to Macies room and swing the door open. The sound of the shower running causes me to head to the bathroom. I turn the handle on the door to find that it's locked. Panic begins to flood my senses and I keep trying to open the door to no avail.

"Macie!" I yell and bang on the door. "Macie!" I repeat louder, hoping that she can hear me. I hope she's okay. I don't know what I'll do if she's not okay. "Please open the door!" I beg. I continue to turn the handle even though I know it's locked. "Please Mace. Open the door." I sob. Tears begin to fall down my face at the thought of what might be happening in that bathroom right now. "Macie..." I whimper and hit my head against the white wooden door. The sound of the shower is the only response I'm receiving. I try the handle one more time finding that it's still locked as ever. I run the pad of my thumb over the key hole. Wait... That's it!

I rush over to her dresser in search of a penny. Her wallet lays on top of the dresser and I unzip it to find an assortment of coins. I quickly grab a small copper penny and sprint back to the bathroom door, turning the coin in the key hole. I sigh with relief when the handle clicks and the door opens.

"Macie!" I yell as I throw the penny to the ground and whip open the shower curtain. Macie sits under the stream of water with her arms wrapped around her knees. She's fully clothed and the water is freezing cold. I shut off the tap and wrap my arms under her knees, pulling her out of the tub and onto the floor where I wrap myself around her. Her skin feels like ice. I grab a towel off the rack and wrap her frozen body in it, hugging her closer. "Mace I'm so sorry. I wouldn't have left if I'd known this was going to happen. I'm so sorry..." I can't stop the tears from falling down my cheeks. She reaches up one of her icy cold hands and wipes her thumb across my face. Her eyes close and she leans into my chest. Her slow, deep breathing comforts me, and I can only hope that the same goes for her.

"I..." She moans, unable to speak. I wish I could somehow take away her pain. I wish I was the one suffering instead of her.

"Let's get you changed into some dryer clothes." I whisper and she slowly nods. I pick her up and set her on the counter, then run into her room to grab some clothes. In the first drawer I open, I find that there's already an arrangement of black spandex shorts, a purple sports bra, black sweatpants and socks. I grab the four items and head back into the bathroom. I hand Macie the clothes and she tries her best to give me a smile, but fails miserably. "Oh shit I forgot a shirt." I go to turn around but she stops me by grabbing my sleeve. "Do you want my sweater?" I offer and she looks down at the floor before nodding. I pull off my gray hoodie and set it next to the pile of clothes I brought her. "I'll be right outside if you need me. Please don't lock the door." I tell her before stepping out and closing the door behind me. Even though this is the worst possible time, it still makes me happy that she wants to wear my clothing.

MACIES POV

Danny closes the door and I hop off the counter. I kneel down and open the cupboard under the sink. I know they're in here somewhere. I find what I'm looking for and stand back up. I admire the shiny silver razor blade in my hand like a previous jewel.
