"Hey." I speak into the phone, crossing my legs and wrapping my free arm around my stomach.

"What's up?"

"Nothing much."

"Aw c'mon Mace! It's never a 'nothing much' with you." He laughs and I roll my eyes. How am I supposed to tell him that I know?

"I hung out with Alex today." A silent tear rolls down my cheek.

"What you guys do?"

"Danny, why did you want me to call you?"

"Because I... I miss you."

"Yeah, okay." I try to control my tone and keep myself from bursting into tears. He's acting so casual, it's making me sick to my stomach.

"Mace what's wrong?"

"You know, maybe we should just take a break."

"What? Why? Macie what are you talking about?"

"I think we need to spend some time apart."

"We are spending time apart! We're on opposite sides of the country for fucks sake!"

"I don't mean like that! I mean that we need to take a break. You and I, Danny."

"Oh my god. You're fucking Alex, aren't you?!"

"No! Why would you even think that?!"

"Oh, I don't know! Maybe because you two spend every waking second together, 'hanging out' and walking around the house half naked!"

"I am not dating Alex, but I wish I was! At least he knows the definition of the world loyalty!"

"What the fuck Macie? What would make you say that?!"

"Because I know."

"What do you know?" His tone grows worried. "Wait, don't try to change the subject! Have you and Alex hooked up, yes or no?"

"No! Danny, he's gay!"

"Oh." No one speaks for a few seconds until I break the silence with a soft whimper that pushes it's way out of my mouth. "Macie are you crying?"

"Yes Danny! I am crying! And you want to know why I'm crying? It's because you're a cheater Danny Edge. You cheated on me with another girl-"

"What the fuck did Teala tell you?"

"What?! Teala knows?"

"What do you mean 'Teala knows'? How else did you find out?!"

"Oh, so now you're not even going to try to deny it?"

"Macie, it's not like that-"

"I called you. On Friday. You... Answered accidentally and I could hear everything that was going on between you and that Macyn bitch."

"She's not a bitch."

"And now you're defending her!"

"No, Macie! Please just let me explain!"

"I don't want to hear the story."

"Macie, please! I'm so sorry! We were drunk and I didn't mean for anything to happen and-"

"Oh my god..." I sob after ending the call. I shakily set my phone on my nightstand and throw my face into a pillow in an attempt to keep my crying volume to a minimum.
